Mike - I'm not argue against your picks for 91kg. I sure hope you are correct and the semifinals are Osmay Acosta Duarte vs Jordan Shimmell and Russo/Mekhontsev winner vs Usyk.

At 64kg - you have Munhk Erdene, but AIBA lists him as Munkh URANCHIMEG. Is that who you meant?
I am hoping you are wrong with one name as I am hoping that Frankie Gomez beats Zdenek Chladek in the quarterfinals so I have Gomez in the semifinals.

The toughest fight for Shimmell on his way to the the semifinal is probably the French M'Bumba who he's fighting in the first round. I don't think that Acosta is impossible to beat either if Shimmell advances to the semi. The other side of the bracket looks much tougher with Russo, Levit, Mekhontsev, Alizade and Usyk. I hope that the very skillfull Usyk is going to beat Russo this time, even if I understand that it will be very difficult to beat Russo in Italy.

I was very impressed by the 19-year old Savon in the +91. A final between him and Cammarelle would be fun to see (even if I know that Zhilei will be hard to beat for Savon). Another young (also 19 year old I think) super heavy that impressed me was the tall Kazak Ivan Dychko, and I'm not so sure that Sergeyev will beat him in the next round.

I agree with your assessment of the 91kg class. At 91+kg Savon looked good and it would be interesting to see him against Cammarelle.

Dychko and Savon fought a very entertaining match in the finals of the 2008 juniors at 91 KG which Savon won 10-8, some good young talent coming up. I think Cammarelle is going to be impossible to beat, but to be honest I don't think he will need much help from the judges because he is that good. He destroyed Zhilei at the Olympics and his KO of Alfonso was something. I'm not a big fan of Russo's style but he is good at what he does, fast hands and feet. Usyk will be the man to beat him and I also hope he pulls it off.

I haven't seen Lomachenko box yet at this event but he seems to be the "superstar" of amateur boxing right now. I will be looking very forward to his fights and I expect him to win.

Tanamor's ousted...beaten comprehensively by the the Armenian DANIELYAN 11-3.

So is Madgaleno, that was a seesaw battle against Makarov though.

Rey Recio (Correa's replacement) simply butchered CHEBOTAREV 26-6!!! :O

Something of an upset at 48kg as Paddy Barnes of Ireland was defeated by Peter Munka of Kenya (by a wide margin).

After Paddy Barnes' tirade after losing his 48kg bout, there is now a chance of him receiving a 5-year ban by AIBA.

He was clearly outboxed and should have handled his loss better. Nevertheless, five years seems awfully high. Is there any precedent?

Mike - I think your 91+kg predictions are looking good:
+91 Cammarelle
Zhang
Savon
Sergeyev

I see Cammarelle and Zhang in the semis. Savon will have a tough bout in the quarters against the Ukrainian. Sergeev against Zuyev should be a good one in another quarterfinal.

Don´t know what Barnes did but Selcuk Aydin and Atagun Yalcinkaya got similar bans at the 2006 European Championships after Aydin´s loss to Frankie Gavin.
Another Irishman, Paul Griffin got suspended at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics after his bad behavior after his stoppage loss. However, I think he got some kind of amnesty cause he was fighting again the next year.
