Will Paddy Barnes turn pro?

Post by ApolloCreed »

I see Paddy Barnes was sent home from the Worlds after reacting furiously to a decision:

He was also sickened to be beaten by the poxy scoring sytem in Beijing, where he won bronze.
Also, they are doing away with his division at the next Olympics so he would have to step up in weight.
Can anyone see him turning pro?

he might have no choice!

Although entirely understandable, he could have gotten the whole Irish team kicked out!

He could get a hefty ban and fine from either or both the IABA and the AIBA. In which case he will probably turn pro.

One of his best mates in the game (Carl Frampton) recently turned pro and seems to be gettin on alright - so Padraig might follow his lead!

His weight division is not being gotten rid of, there's been a restructuring of the lower weights and Featherweight(57Kg) is the one that's gone.

Light-Flyweight is now 49Kg(1Kg increase)
Flyweight 52Kg(1Kg increase)
Bantamweight 56Kg(2Kg increase)

I think it's extremely likely Barnes will turn pro now, whether the ban(should he get one) is long or not.
I think Barnes will be well suited to the pro game and with the weak British and Commonwealth Flyweight divisions at the moment and the average European Flyweight division there is plenty of opportunity there for him.
