Calzaghe floored in first round of Strictly

Post by whiskey »

:D

Nervous Calzaghe comes rock bottom on Strictly

18.09.09

Image

A nervous looking Joe Calzaghe lurched out with his dance partner Kristina tonight on the first episode of Strictly Come Dancing, to perform a tango in front of judges who later gave their opinions on the former boxing champion.

Poor Joe, wearing a face like a bloodhound and moving around the dance floor with the finesse of forklift truck, was roundly mauled by the highly critical judging panel.

"It was a performance that only a mother could love!" commented one judge, before they gave Joe and his dance partner the lowest score of the evening.

In an all too familiar turn of events, the boxer finds himself being floored in the very first round (not too dissimilar to his fights with Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins).

Joe and Kristina now find themselves looking to turn their luck around with another performance tomorrow evening to keep their competition hopes alive.

Let's hope he can turn on the moves in round two that made him a boxing superstar. Otherwise the voting public may throw in the towel.

Didn't a judge made reference to Joseph sniffing his partner's hair or something?

I actually thought he would do well... During the last series his dance partner had the sloth to work with and i bet she prob thought she was getting the welsh John Travolta.... instead she got the welsh John Sargeant.

Poor Joe, i'll text him a vote :D

A very bad choice of music to do much to.

Dancing isn`t his thing for sure ... he`s just so introvert. He is obviously trying to occupy himself in retirement, but I think his people have made a bit of a mistake by putting him into something like this dancing stuff.

I don`t see him lasting very long indeed. Its obviously up to the public who goes .. but not really sure they will endear to him with the like of Phil Tuffnel about.

I do remember during Naz's heyday, Joe did, on one occasion, and I can't remember who he was fighting, trying to dance his way into the ring ala Naz-stylie.

It was embarrassing, he said it was embarrassing and the crowd thought it was embarrassing. Needless to say, he never did it again.

So Strictly Come Dancing and Joe didn't seem to me a brilliant idea. But fair cop to him for having a go :D

Is it wrong that I read the first post and thought it was a Hennessey press release?

Please note that I have no idea how Joe did on the show, so he may well have been shite.

Don't feel too sorry for Joe, I reckon Joe is already giving his partner one - the rehearsals were looking rather fruity to me.

This is dancing Joe not boxing. :KO:

When I first saw the title I was kind of hoping that he'd fallen over or something.

Awful - and to think for whatever reason the bookies had him favourite to win before it all started.

Well, we all know Gomez knows Carl Froch.

Perhaps Hennessy Sports will put out a press release now Calzaghe has got through to next round:

Carl Froch, the greatest world champion ever, has offered to meet Joe Calzaghe in a winner takes all dance off.

"Every knows Calzaghe has always ducked me. This is his chance to finally prove his bollox and set the record straight," Froch said.

etc... etc... etc...

Thats because the public love him for some reason and despite finishing as worse dancer - the admiring British public voted to keep him away from the bottom 2
