Prizefighter HW's *spoilers*

Post by jBacca »

First fight..

Given round 1 to Barrett.

Close 2nd round. Could have went either way. Given it to Barrett for being busier.

Given the 3rd to Barrett for the same reasons as the 2nd round.

Very close in the end. Barrett looked tidier but will worry about him as he tires later on in the tournie.

Cheers Gammer! Thats 3 whole quid down the swanny! :TU:

Barrett won it on workrate, punches thrown...it doesn't matter that the majority missed or hit Gammer's gloves, Gammer didn't seem willing to press it despite being much bigger and stonger.

Coleman Barrett (Ireland) upsets Scott Gammer (Wales) in the opening quarter final bout. 29-28 on all 3 scorecards. Not a lot of quality work. Gammer seemed to be looking for the big shot and wasn't throwing enough. Barrett was moving about and looked busier. He looks a little small for a heavyweight but fitter than most guys on the show which may benefit him in this format. Was 25/1 earlier in the day but apparently his odds fell to 10/1 before the broadcast, so a lot of late money has gone on the Irishman.

Think Barrett will be two quick in his semi final. Size of Harrison will be a problem.

Giving the 2nd round to Baker. Very scrappy but Baker got the better digs in.

Baker has surely got the decision... Williams might be given the 3rd 10-8 though.

British champ Danny Williams came in better shape than he has done in a lot of fights but it didn't help him against Carl Baker in the opening round as he was floored almost immediately, and then he was knocked down a second time. Managed to survive the round by holding on for dear life against a huge tournament outsider.

Round 2, Williams was knocked down again but the ref ruled it a slip despite a punch connecting. Williams goes into the 3rd desperately needing a KO to win.

Round 3, Williams comes out like a train and looks to steam roll Baker. He pounds Baker to the body and then BOOM! nails Baker with a right hand and Baker is doing a chicken dance. Williams beats Baker all around the ring for the whole round but can't put him down with Baker doing everything he could to survive.

Baker takes it by UD to make it 2 upsets in a row. If this was a full length fight the result might have been different. It was a mini war with the only one benefiting probably being Coleman Barett who is now looking like good money.
