Audley on Danny

Post by ra2006 »

From his website

BIZARRE DECISIONS IN BOXING
I found it a peculiar decision to not strip Danny of his titles and allow him to fight on. Regardless of whether Danny wins against Rogan or Sexton, I believe he is devaluing the British title as he is not the number 1. He is a danger to himself and boxing if he continues to suffer the kind of losses and knockdowns that we now associate with a Danny Williams performance. If anyone saw his knockout loss to Albert Sosnowski last year, you would know that Danny should not be taking anymore punishment. I don't see how the board cannot see that.

So I guess we have been let off Williams v Harrison 3. Thank god!!!

If Williams is so poor, he'll get beaten for the title so why strip him

i actually agree with Audley on this. Danny could get hurt at this stage.

sadly true - he'll always get fights because, as he showed in Prizefighter - he has an enormous set of cojones, can take a lot of punishment, and has a decent dig. But should he be fighting? I'd have to say no - he's been knocked down by Airich, Sosnowski and Baker and hurt badly by the powder puff punches of McDermalds in his last five, and would have murdered them all in his prime.

I agree, Danny has been treated very well by the BBBoC. They've enforced one mandatory in his time since he won the title, got treated to what many thought was a lucky decision (I didn't) yet has not been enforced any mandatories since.

Quite how Rogan vs Skelton wasn't a British title eliminator is beyond me.

indeed and it should of been for the EU title as rogan was ranked high enough

I will disagree with Audley's view that even if he beats Rogan or Sexton then he still shouldn't be considered champion.

For me, aside from Haye, Sexton should be ranked the next best Heavyweight at this moment.

Audley won a series of 3x3 minute rounds.

It should of been for the EBU title as Rogan was ranked by the EBU(and that's all that is required, that top 10 stuff is bollocks and was made up) when he beat Skelton who was the EBU champion at the time.
