What does Haye beating Valuev actually mean, really?

Post by thepocketrocket »

OK, first and foremost I rate Valuev quite highly, as in I don't see him as the lumbering oaf that man do..he is big, has underated skills and decent stamina!!

Sadly, I'm just not seeing the significance of the fight. Haye talked about beheading the Klits, then, after all his boasts, and completely missing the point that if he beats either he becomes a star, he wets out saying he wants 50%!

If he beats Valuev its a good win but he has not got a slice of the pie, The Klits own the whole bloody chippy! and if he thinks that beating 'the giant' that will change he is barking mad!!

It says a lot that the Yanks have no interest in this, its a heavyweight fight not involving the Klits, why would they give a rats ass?

Sorry to put a downer on this but is it just me who thinks like this?

What it means is that he will have a world title, and will have a bargaining chip to fight the Klitchkos.

Exactly - He will be world champion and I am sure he wants to be the first to KO the big man.

If the americans are not interested in this fight then it makes no sense. I know that I would rather watch this, a genuinely interesting matchup, then watching either Klit playing it safe behind the jab all night against no hopers like Thompson.

Haye will be more legitimate with a world title behind him, he will also have beaten a world title belt holder.

Of course that will affect negotiations.

So, what was the original offer??? And do you really think he will get 50%? :o

Plus, I think we are missing the point that if he beat a Klit he would become a star, and he would be able to get big money for fights, but you have to beat one first!!!! :box:

His bargaining position will be a lot stronger, also there will be the option of defending that belt which should see some decent paydays with the post-Valuev interest to build on.

And how much did Chagaev(not a bum btw) get paid for figting Wlad??? He was class, beat Valuev, legit title winner....did that really make him a big cheese at the negotiating table???

Me thinks Wlad took the lions share there!!!

a title.

perhaps a bit more leverage when it comes to negotiating with the klitschko's.

a win over a top 10 heavy.

a payday.

not much else. :OhYes:

Doubt it will change much. in boxing its all about being a NAME. Haye came up and with his big gob he made himself a NAME! This isn't Martin Rogan gaining credibility, even if Haye wins a plastic belt against Valuev I don't see things changing that much! He was already well known....and the Klits dont have to fight him on anyones terms bar their own!!!

And I doubt with Hayes punch resistance there will be many defences at Heavy! Al 'Ice' Cole he is not, but he isn't a Holy either!!!!

Do you remember the ridiculous contract they had him locked in? Well with the wba behind him he certainly wouldn't have to sign anything like that.

He was a voluntary, he had not earned the right to fight Klit, so why would his contract be good????

Plus as soon as he fights a Klit(presuming he beat Valuev) then I guess he gets stripped anyway! he is still out on his own, no big backers and he will get what the Klits give him!!!

why did vitali klitschko give arreola a 1 fight contract? because arreola is average.why did vitali give haye a 3 rematch contract?? because haye is a threat. i think vitali would beat haye but why give him a disgraceful bogus contract like that??? name me 1 fighter in the world who would have accepted that contract pocketrocket? haye wasnt asking for 50%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he was asking for a reasonable contract. if he beats valuev(which he will) then he will fight 1 of the klits next summer(guaranteed) and wont have to sign a bogus contract. haye sell's a fight so well. fighting people like arreola will get the klits good money. but come on if they fight haye they will get big big money.this is a huge fight for haye.if he ko's valuev then it is one of the most impressive wins in the last 20 years :TU:

I think it would mean a lot more than you think.

For a start he will be a world champion holding a decent title, not just a mickey mouse one. He will of beat a proper world champion in only his 3rd heavyweight fight, he would of beat even a fighter that the Klits haven't beat and he would be the first British Heavyweight champion since Lewis. That to me is quite alot.

That's not forgetting that a Haye win would halt the domination of Eastern Europeans at Heavyweight and then therefore will get the yanks back interested.

The Yanks are not interested in this fight because Haye is not American and they hate Russians, they've only just started to get interested in the Klits and that's only because they keep on beating their top 'stars'. Even when Tyson was beating everyone the US public were never overally interested in boxing unless an American (or Mexican) title holder was involved.

Bollocks.

Haye was not a name, - that's bullshit, no fekker outside of the UK had really noticed him, and he wasn't even a household name here! The Barrett fight was about a third full I'd say, I was there.

After beating Valuev, if indeed he does, he will be a household name, and he will be well known in Eastern Europe, where Valuev is very well known.

You my son are talking tripe.

Whoa, we are getting giddy!!! One of the best in the last 20 yrs? cmon!!! :TU:

The differance was Arreola proved himself in the ring. David had no intention of doing that, he wanted the big mouth routine, probably get sparked and to work on Hayemaker!! The problem was that by not proving yourself you really are at the mercy of the big boys!! You get their contract!

also if you beat one Klit, you would have to fight the next to become king, hardly a slave contract

And yes, The klits may think 'nice win' but the way Haye has messed them about, in and out of contracts ect, do you really think they are going to start being geneurous at negotiation time??????????????????

Why shouldn`t it be on European time?? A Brit v A German based Russian.

Who gives a crap about the yanks? There are many German fighters who have made a very nice living out of boxing in Germany at European times.

Bowing down to the yanks should be a thing of the past. We watch stateside fights at god awful hours, let them do the same. If they don`t like it, who cares.

It`s not like the yanks have a heavyweight worth his salt these days anyhow.

The crowds in Uk, Germany and even Denmark far outnumber the live gates one sees in the States.

His win against Mormeck and his mouth got the Americans talking, you go on like he was Danny Williams pre Tyson! He went on a big publicity traul to get his name out, it worked!

If he beats Valuev the Yanks will think 'oh, Haye beat that big useless cnt that Holy beat'!!!

That is disrespectful to Valuev, who is better than that, but this isn;'gonna propel him to stardom in the why you think!!

We are forgetting that HBO and Showtime pay!! Thats a shame but nothing is going to change that!! if you want money you have to have the big TV backers!! Unless we all think that primetime are the future???

So he would have to rematch them, its a voluntary contract, what do you think he was gonna get??

I can see it now, haye defending the belt, claiming the Klits are unfair, untril the day he gets Ko'd and retires!!

And we will be sat here thinking...'god, I wish he had but the bullet and fought them'
