Hit and not be hit?

Post by Grant »

Don't get me wrong, I like and appreciate the bangers going around right now, But is there still room for a fammo type in the current Era? Would they survive? and who is the closest thing to an elusive hit and not be hit boxer at the highest level?

Hitting without being hit has always been the main principle of boxing. I remember watching Johnny Famechon fighting Bobby Valdez at the old Sydney Stadium. Johnny drove Valdez nuts. Every time Valdez thought he had him cornered Johnny went under Bobby's guard and left him looking at a vacant corner. Valdez was so frustrated he finished up getting disqualified for holding.

Famechon's speed and defence were incredible.
