I just had a wonderful 'Setanta reminisce' reading that, it was an excellent channel whilst it lasted. Those fcuking useless cnutface bankers have got alot to answer for!!! In retaliation I'm gonna track that Fred Goodwin (cunnt!) down (and his £700,000 a year pension ) in his mansion in the South of France and pull his fat fcuking head off

Glad you like it, Stu. First time I've spoken to the man directly and I enjoyed it. I'd like to attend a roadshow if they visit these parts again, missed the first one due to things and stuff like that.

Nice take on Naz and always interesting to hear about Bernard Hopkins. I didn't ask specifically if he turned the electricity back on or the TV was turned on from standby, as I was afraid that Steve may have said it was just the TV. I like the idea of Hopkins turning the electricity off everytime he leaves the house. Reminds me of Eddie Murphy and his dad's phone.

gotta love hopkins true old school one of my fave fighters for that very reason, boring as hell to watch sometimes but turned his life around and been a model pro..legend.

one of the best "thinking" fighters of his generation no doubt.

I enjoyed the second piece even more than the first, good work Tel! IMO it's impossible for a boxing fan to dislike Steve Bunce, it's a crying shame that his Boxing Hour isn't being screened any more.

I was gobsmacked when i read that junior was demanding parity with Hatton and wasn't willing to drop, that's one of the most bizarre stances I've heard of in boxing. Steve knows the sport and the people within it inside out. If I could take one person to a desert island with me then Kylie, Kelly Brook, Georgie Thompson etc can all fcuk off I'm taking Buncey............ as there'd be plenty of snap to go round if he carked it

I don't blame the bankers, it's that boxing is a very difficult sport to make profitable. Fights like Cotto v Pacman are bloody expensive to get the rights to, and your average punter doesn't really know who they are. You want to show these fights if you are a sports broadcaster, but you're not going to make much revenue from a five AM non PPV showing.

I (quite rightly IMO) blame the bankers for everything, the UK's economic collapse must have had a sizeable impact on Setantas subscription numbers. I don't know if that was the difference between Setanta going bust and being profitable, but it certainly must've had some impact. Whilst the likes of RBS were loaning Billions to overseas companies that had been persistantly failing for years, it's other companies like Setanta that ultimately pay the price for the banks idiocy. However I'm not sure how realistic Setantas business model was in the first place as it was relying on a massive number of subscriptions to break even and I think the economic downturn made their existance very difficult to maintain

Unfortunately as we all know Sky have got the UKTV sports subscription market cornered (monopolised?) and it's going to be very difficult for another company (especially a fledgling one) to challenge their coverage and remain profitable over their first 5 or 10 years. I think Primetime have got the right idea by not directly challenging Sky just feeding off their plentiful scraps and selecting each show on it's individual merits, I really hope they can make a success of it else we're gonna be solely relying on Sky which is not healthy for the viewer or the sport

Nice one Terry, quality stuff as always. Bit of an eye opener with regards to the Witter-Hatton situation and its hard to disagree with the criticism directed at the BBC. Always effs me off no end that I fork out a t.v licence yet don't watch any BBC shows whatsoever. Well except the ABA's (which they've stopped showing!) and the olympics. Okay, okay and maybe a bit of Jonathan Woss too....but I'll gladly forfeit watching any BBC shows if it meant I didn't have to pay a t.v licence.
