Haye champ for five minutes - WBA order 'interim' title bout

Post by dondada »

You might think as a committed boxing fan, I'd keep track of who is champion with which board, etc.

Honestly, I haven't done that for years and years - it would be easy to catch me out. They're all shite.

That is such a farce - boxing really needs a kick up the arse - it is getting out of control all of these bullshit belts and politics.

I thought him having to fight Ruiz was bad enough - as he in no way deserves a shot - but this latest move is a piss-take.
Haye should do a Riddick Bowe and call a presser and throw that piece of shit belt in a rubbish skip.

There is also a WBA International Heavyweight title fight featuring a Russian with a tasty record. Watch for him to move up the rankings by the time Haye deals with Ruiz.

The worst situation with the WBA was on the same evening Ward won the WBA title off Kessler, Dimitry Sartison won the WBA SUper Middleweight champion. Ward is now the "Super" Champion, even though Kessler had none of the requirements of a Super Champion!

Below are the most memorable fights involving what could be David Haye's next two opponents.

:o

Having said that, Chagaev should beat Meehan with his neater boxing. Still, it is an utter disgrace and yet another stain on the sport.

Basically the WBA have ordered an interim fight between meehan and chagaev, and presuming Haye beats Ruiz hes has to fight the winner or he will be stripped of the title. Joke move by the WBA they really are the worst of the lot, bin the title David don't fight Ruiz or either of these you don't need to.

Tricky one, given that to most people (ie, the general public) David Haye's biggest draw factor/selling point is his "world title". Not sure if it would be wise of him to bin it, unless he had a guaranteed challenge for any other proper "world" title 100% signed and sealed.

We all know how these an fall through.....

Yeah i'm saying bin it presuming he can get a decent fair contract signed against one of the klitchko's, which i think is very realistic now he has beaten Valuev.

Oh well. Least he made some money out of the valuev fight. Good luck if he thinks the klits are going to wait for him to complete his never ending mandatories

Firstly I aggree this is a disgrace the WBA are a joke and have been since they stripped Lewis for wantenly beating a Don King fighter twice!

However lest we forget that the only reson Haye got his shot was cos Chagaev vacated the title to fight Klitschko so in some ways it seems just if he has to get by Chagaev to fight Klitschko.

A sliver lining to this is that Haye gets to have two more fights at the weight both of which will be good learning fights against opponents with strong jabs, both of which I firmly believe he can win, though Chagaev will be a tough one before he fights Klitschko. He will also earn a fair bit of cash for all of them in this country - two big nights at the o2.

I'm a massive Haye fan but he didn't deserve a title shot after one fight at HW I don't think it's a bad thing that he will have fought 4 top contenders before he goes for the (actual) world title.

I can see Haye vacating the WBA Title if it means getting to Old Klit before he calls it a day again. Boxing is becoming a bigger joke by the day and the sooner the likes of King are gone the better. One small glimpse of hope is a Super 6 style tourney in every division but think we have to wait for a lot of the current fighters and promoters to move on.

Great post. I was thinking the same after I had gotten over the initial outrage. From a boxing fan perspective it is beyond the pale, but for Haye - like you said - they are relatively easy defences and a chance for him to make good money and tune up for the Klitschov bros.

Yes, can see why Chagaev still should have a high ranking, but also he messed around the WBA (maybe not his fault granted) with his injuries. I think the WBA gave him enough chances.

I still feel sorry for Holyfield, whose not even ranked by the WBA, despite getting jobbed by Valuev.

The WBA are dicks for this sort of thing. Maidana was defending the interim WBA 140lb belt last weekend. As we all know, the WBA 140lb champ, a little-known youngster from Bolton called Amir Khan has been sidelined for years, and is in no way fighting next week. Twats.

There are numerous examples of this shit from the WBA these last few years. In fact, although I may have to check this, I believe their 'interim' and 'real' champs in the lightweight division actually defended their titles on the SAME fornicating NIGHT a few months ago.

Well you only have to look at the situation last weekend.

Ward got promoted to being a "Super" Champion.... for no reason. And Sariston won the "regular" championship that same night.

Well its so confusing now, its not clear if Ward is a Super Champion or not. Its not in any ruling that he should be, he doesn't hold another title, and neither did Kessler.

Ruiz's team say it's a load of lies from Don King.

For shame.

bad for haye if it is true as he isnt good enough to beat chagaev. haye could beat ruiz and then get a jackpot fight with either of the klitschko's before being KO'd off the scene...but if he has to fight chagaev then it's all over before he gets to the big boys.

I'm not sure what to make of this now. It is true that Don King is pretty much a spent force - what advntage would he gain from such blatant lies though?
