The last result shown on his BoxRec list of bouts is an obvious error, why was this not checked.

Shoeing Smith is not his alias but was his rank when serving in the 5th. Dragoon Guards.
Davies like Gipsy Billy Daniels is also a native of Llanelly, His father was Mr. W.J. Davies, Nevill Street, Llanelly.

Although he lived for while near Monmouth he was also billed from Newport, Chepstow and Caldicot where he had a gymnasium.

Did notice on one record recently (not Boxrec) that he was called Shoe Smith which I do not think he would have liked.

Do you really believe that Fred Davies who had his last fight in 1929 against a Heavyweight would make a come-back 6 years later and fight a boxer listed as a Featherweight.

Have you any proof that Shoeing Smith Fred Davies moved to Doncaster.
