Big fight live!
Big fight live!
shame about the purdy fight that was shaping up to be a good scrap.
Is fury fighting tonight?
Think Barkers going to take this title comfortably!

Re: Big fight live!
They haven't mentioned Fury so I'm assuming he's off the bill.
ITV are certainly pushing El Maachi here![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

what a belting little fight..........big auld fat robbery shaft job coming up here.......
never heard of Bailey but I've seen Barnes once.
Expect Barnes to suffer more in the 4th and get a "draw"

Super Bad looks Fu cking Awful. Pro too soon? Why did Brendan turn him over at 17 I wonder?
Re: Big fight live!
Barnes has been super bad tonight, Bailey is 2 weights below and has a losing record
Re: Big fight live!
Should be a draw...I sense Barnes will get it though.
Re: Big fight live!
Oooh Bailey got it. Barnes looks very average.
Re: Big fight live!
ref got that right but I thought te ref was going for Barnes' hand there, as did a few others I suspect!

Re: Big fight live!
'Super bad' is a pretty apt nickname for Barnes
Where was his defence?

Re: Big fight live!
can't be too harsh on the lad, only 18 and in his 4th fight. I got the impression he was a KO artist that was going to bully and KO them for a bit. Was certainly making big noises last time I saw him on TV about 9 months ago.
over reliant on the right hand tonight and came apart when Bailey fought back
a good right hand can take you round the corner, a good jab can take you round the world.

I know he wont, but Barnes could do with going back to the ams for a few seasons to allow his boxing and body to mature. This result could go one of too ways - it will either make him more determined than ever to succeed or it will kill off any love he has for the game.

agree, its how he comes back, maybe a return to the am's for a couple of years wouldn't hurt.TerribleTerry wrote:I know he wont, but Barnes could do with going back to the ams for a few seasons to allow his boxing and body to mature. yeah, but i think thats what he's gonna have to be to beat Barker, he isn't going to outbox him, needs to drag him into a maul.steve689 wrote:Butler is pretty crude.
Re: Big fight live!
Barker's just sticking Butler on the end of that long jab and the away man is finding it increasingly difficult to get inside and land. I think by the mid-rounds Barker should be measuring him for a stoppage.

Re: Big fight live!
Barker is looking sharp as a razor tonight - his timing and sense of distance are impeccable. He is a classy fighter to watch and is dealing with Butler's spoiling perfectly.
Re: Big fight live!
Aye, Barker is a class above here. Of course, we all knew that anyway, but it's still good to watch.
Re: Big fight live!
different levels of course but Barker resmbles Joe Calzaghe a little bit to me. He has good poise and ring generalship and he only throws shots which are measured, he doesn't waste many shots.

Why was the fight stopped?

Re: Big fight live!
Bollocks stoppage that one from Richie. Butlers corner had given him one last round and he was having a good go. This isnt amateur boxing - that was a title fight and should not have been stopped. His corner would have pulled him out at the end of the round, if necessary.
