A MOST INTERESTING CHARACTER, BARRY WAS A WHITE HEAVYWEIGHT THAT DID NOT MIND TRADING LEATHER WITH THE TOUGH BLACK FIGHTERS OF WHAT WAS TERMED "THE CHITTLING CIRCUIT," COMPOSED OF LANGFORD, JEANETTE, MCVEY AND A DOZEN OTHER HARD SPOILERS. BARRY, A COWBOY FROM MONTANA, WAS A DRUG ADDICT BUT A PRETTY TOUGH GUY WHO PUT LANGFORD ON THE DECK.
I HAVE READ IN VARIOUS CLIPPINGS THAT HE DIED IN A BAR BRAWL IN PANAMA, BUT NO DETAILS ON THE INCIDENT OR A DATE. CAN ANYONE HELP? IT'S PURE CURIOSITY.

I think Barry might have been Native-American. That would explain in part why he fought many of the black Heavy's during the teens.

No. I've seen photos and he was caucasian with blonde or chestnut hair. Some historians -including Randy Roberts- refered to him as a black heavyweight, simply because he appeared in so many black fighters records. He beat some fair fighters of his time and performed well against Langford.
