Was gonna post the same, was bang on the nose last month!Lenny wrote:Bit late this morning Horse
Napa too high, Barker above him. Mitchell too low too.
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2009
Horse's rules keep people in who say they've retired for a set period--is it 6 months or so before they disappear, Horse?oliverfennell wrote:Woods has retired
Suggest you also summarize your rules at the end of your list each month to remind people.
I know some people have moaned about these P4P lists, but I like seeing them every month...

I was too tired to stay up, so I thought that I would post it later in the morning after I had some sleep.Lenny wrote:Bit late this morning Horse
I am sorry for the delay.

Yes, I plan to take him off the list after he has been inactive for a longer period.oliverfennell wrote:Woods has retired
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2009
Def should have Mitchell above cook..(No.11??
) but dont think Cook should be this high. And Darren Barker should be higher.
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2009
Alex Arthur is not top 30 imo.
Otherwise fairly solid list.

Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2009
Bit baffled to how Hatton can be above Froch :??
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2009
Hopefully, I will celebrate the dawn of the new year by posting January's P4P Top 30 at midnight.Finch wrote:Was gonna post the same, was bang on the nose last month!Lenny wrote:Bit late this morning Horse![]()
If Barker had beaten Elcock then he would most likely have gone above Napa and maybe a bit higher. However, I didn't think that a win over Butler warranted a large jump up the rankings.Finch wrote:Napa too high, Barker above him. Mitchell too low too.
Mitchell's only decent win in the last 18 months is against Estrada, who has now lost 7 of his last 9 fights and has been stopped in the 1st round of his last 3. If Mitchell beats Prescott this month then he will climb a good number of places, but at the moment I think he is about where he should be in the rankings.
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2009
Fair enough, i just don't rate Napa that highly. It's all opinion anyway.
Glad you got Haye above Froch though now.

Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2009
I think Froch and Haye are tied for top spot right now.
Froch has the main belt in perhaps one of the deepest divisions in the sport right now.
He is unbeaten, just picked up fighter of the year and fight of the year at the British Boxing Board of Control's annual bash.
When it comes to 'titles', Haye is the winner, having gotten the WBA, WBO and WBC cruiser titles and now a WBA title at Heavy, that commands respect.
Haye's achievements are exciting and great for the UK. But can't help but feel the biggest scalps on his record are questionable. This is not Haye's fault obviously as they were seen as the 'big fights' at the time.
Enzo has been knocked out in 2 of his last 3 following Haye. Mormeck aint fought since and was knocked out just a couple of fights before Haye. Barrett has just been knocked out quicker by Solis and lost 3 of his previous 6 (2 by KO) and then the Beast, who eeked out a split over Ruiz and an alleged King-style robbery over Holyfield.
I know case can be made for Froch's wins too. Taylor, whilst a highly decorated middleweight and coming off a 119-109 win over Lacy, had lost his previous 2 to Pavlik. But Pascal has captured a WBC title and Dirrell was a tricky, top rated unbeaten Olympian.
I think Haye has achieved more on the titles front, but Froch has had the tougher opposition to date and has come through unbeaten.
thoughts?

Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2009
no room at the inn for Andrew Murray or John O'Donnell?
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2009
It is up to 12 months after their last fight.nh1 wrote:Horse's rules keep people in who say they've retired for a set period--is it 6 months or so before they disappear, Horse?
I will think about that.nh1 wrote:Suggest you also summarize your rules at the end of your list each month to remind people.

Thanks.alexpaterson wrote:As always good job![]()
Dunne has achieved more than Munroe, but Dunne has just been destroyed in three rounds by Kratingdaenggym whereas Munroe has just won a WBC title eliminator against Maludrottu.alexpaterson wrote:I personally would have Dunne higher than Munroe he has achieved more lately imo also Booth a bit higher
I also wanted to start moving Woods and Witter down the rankings as Woods has retired and Witter hasn't had any good wins for a while. So, I thought that I would move Munroe ahead for now, and if Dunne gets a decent comeback win then maybe he can move ahead of Munroe again.
Booth fell 5 places this month, because of Barker, McCloskey, Lindsay, Sexton and Small overtaking him. If he had fought this month then he may well have stayed ahead of these fighters instead of falling below them. These fighters are all roughly at the same level at the moment, so the ones who have fought most recently will most likely be higher in the list.
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2009
Cook was WBO champion earlier in the year, so he is still highly ranked because of that. Alex Arthur has fallen 7 places in the last 2 months, and if Cook doesn't have a comeback fight against a decent opponent soon then something similar is likely to happen to him as well.Des1 wrote:Def should have Mitchell above cook..(No.11??) but dont think Cook should be this high. And Darren Barker should be higher.
Mitchell has not beaten anyone decent in over a year, so I don't feel he deserves to be any higher than he is at the moment.
Every fighter ranked above Barker has beaten a better fighter than Barker has. If Barker fought better opposition then it would be easier for me to rank him higher. I think a 4 place jump up the rankings for beating Butler is fairly generous.
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2009
Alex Arthur was a British, Commonwealth, European and WBO champion at Super Featherweight. He has not had a significant win in quite a while, but I don't think it was so long ago that he should no longer be in the top 30.G0mez wrote:Alex Arthur is not top 30 imo.
If he loses to Nigel Wright this Saturday then he will probably lose his place in the top 30.
Thank you.G0mez wrote:Otherwise fairly solid list.

I think I read somewhere that he is mandatory for the European title. If he is then he will have a very good opportunity to climb up a lot of places.GazMan85 wrote:Personally would have Booth a little higher.

If he wins the European title against Brancalion in January then he will be highly likely to enter the top 10.taffytoon wrote:I would have Cleverly higher but I am Welsh so Biased
