Meehan is one of those guys I never quite got into. Sure he's big and got a punch, but those guys are a dime a dozen. Last I heard the WBA was making Meehan a match with someone, whose name escapes me at the moment, as a title match---but Golden Boy declared that David Haye was the only 'true' WBA champion out there. So who knows.

There was talk of him fighting former WBA Champ Chagaev with the winner to fight Haye, but it did not come about.

At the Finland Fiasco, where Chagaev pulled out of the fight against Valuev because he had hepatitis, Meehan offered to fight Valuev but Valuev's people would not be in it. Whether it had anything to do with Valuev having won an 8 rounder against Bob Mirovic on points after Meehan KOed Mirovic in 4 I don't know.

You reckon Solo and Leapai might be too much of a risk for Meehan??

If Kirby could not stand up to Haumono's punch he would have a hell of a time against Meehan.

Kali needs to change his nickname of "checkmate" to "gunna":

I'm gunna fight again some day; I'm gunna win the world title one day; I'm gunna get back into the ring soon!

Crikey the man has fought only twice in the past 26 months for a total of 5 rounds. Come on Kali, take a fight and stop being the "Peter Brady" of boxing. There are enough alphabet soup boxing assocations out there that will give you a bout, even the dreaded WBF. Forget the $$$$, get some ring time again!

And what makes you certain that beating Mirovic in a more better fashion makes Meehan suitable to be a world champion? Who would have ever thought..."If I can beat Bob Mirovic, I can be champion of the world, its all there for the taking!"

STUFF AND NONSENSE.....Meehan will get his ass handed to him when he faces the first man with more sense about him than Big Bob ffs.....you must be one of those who thought Hoppoate would have kayoed McCall too, hmm?

^^ now you do understand your are in the Australian Forum HomicideHenry? Just to make sure before you get all geographically challenged again. I thought you were all tied up in that TPS shit. Perhaps, as one who portrayed a policeman once said, "a man has got to know his limitations". Perhaps sticking to the futile world of TPS is yours.

I know Meehan is Aussie based, and have followed him somewhat since he appeared on that HW card that featured Byrd, Golota, Donald, etc. He's never impressed me once. Every time I hear about a new Aussie HW I'm reminded of Bill Squires who challenged Tommy Burns over 100 years ago and got kayoed in mere seconds. This year its all Shane Cameron, John Hoppoate and Kali Meehan. Hoppoate lost to McCall, Cameron will never fight Tua so it seems, and Meehan's never proven anything than being just a big, awkward, heavyweight.

HOWEVER, Meehan is more capable than Valuev. Maybe he should petition to meet the Russian Giant in a battle of behemoths, the winner of which could meet Haye or the Klitschko's.

Cameron and Tua did fight. Tua annihilated Cameron in two rounds on October 3 in New Zealand. Meehan was supposed to get a shot at the WBA title after he KOed Davarryl Williamson, the WBA welched.

:D

I have no doubt it was stopping Big Bob that gave Danny Williams and Matt Skelton the confidence to gun for world titles.

News to me then. Heard Carmeron-Tua talk for last two, three years, and always seemed to never happen. Applaud Tua for wrecking him then! Just goes to show even the best of the Aussies cant even beat a gatekeeper years passed his best.
