Tyson Fury, What Now?

Post by HomicideHenry »

After racking up 9 wins, 7 via the knock out, and picking up a title, whose is in line for a match with Fury? Myself, I'd like to see the 6'9" Fury take on Irish heavyweight Declan Timlin (or however his name is spelled). Timlin is 6'7" and has a decent record himself. Be interesting to see Fury against a man his own size, though albiet not the same pedigree. Cant be any worse than the last man Fury fought in Ireland.

yes because of the controversial and competive nature of it the british borad of control have mandated a rematch or fury has to drop the belt

ahhh I see. funny, it isnt listed as taking place.

I think another interesting match-up for Fury would be against David Price. The two men duked it out in the amateurs, and Price is now 3-0-0. A grudge match would be great.

Fury is a guy I've really gotten into. The HW division is so depleted right now, and it seems the only interesting fights are in Europe. Fury is young and has alot of potential and a great back story. He reminds me of Gerry Cooney in alot of ways. I think Fury has alot going for him, if he can #1) make some fights that can be memorable (a brawl with Price would be great for him), and #2) be dominate always, evidentially he wasnt so much with McDermott.

Fury seems to be confident and keeps active and willing, so I believe a rematch he would do so. I'd just like to see more of him in the ring, against a broader variety of fighters. Timlin, as I mentioned before, is a super heavyweight like himself and not too shaby. Maybe Fury could test his mettle against someone like Herbie Hide or BJ Flores, big Cruiserweights who can make HW.

he's fun to watch but his power isnt what his record will say, im a huge fury fan having met him a few times. most of his stopages have been calzaghe esqe with it coming from unanswered punches, i think he needs to drop about a stone (Coz he looks like he is carrying some excess weight).

if i had my way his next fighst should he win them all would be:
McDermott - english title
Chisora
Timlin - irish title
Williams-Sexton winner for Brittish and commonwealth titles
then 3 defences to win brittish outright

Im not sure Timlin is boxing anymore-he hasnt' fought in 18 months and I don't think he is as big as you think-I always thought he was around 6'3 and Boxrec have him listed as 6'1. I'm the same as you though, I quite like Tyson Fury if only he would keep his mouth shut a bit more often.

At the moment I don't think he is near World Level and really doubt he ever will be to be honest. I think for now he should concentrate on a few decent domestic scraps-McDermott rematch, Martin Rogan, Sam Sexton etc and see where that takes him.

Chisora and Timlin and Price would be AMAZING for his career. I cant agree any better with you. Fury does need to lose a little weight, I agree. His power seems to be an oddity. One fight he'll drop guys with body blows, the next time it goes the distance. As for competing with the likes of Williams and Sexton, I think he may just be too early for that. Chisora, Timlin, Price would be great, McDermott as well in a rematch----but I'd rather see him go after someone like McBride, call me crazy but that would be a good fight I think.

Like I said, also, have Fury in with Herbie Hide, a CW capable of being HW again, whose on the end of his career, but gots enough spark to make Fury work and make him fight. Here's how I'd have it: McDermott rematch, Chisora, Timlin, McBride, then Hide.

He gets passed that, then have him take on the Rogan's, Williams', Harrison's, etc.

Edit- Sorry, I always heard Timlin was like 6'7", maybe I heard wrong, coulda swore this site had him listed as that at one time, then again I've heard varying reports on Fury as well being 6'7" and 6'9" on Wiki.

bellew who was sparked by fury with body shots was done the same way in his next fight and he'd been hurt ot the body before in some of his wins, his body is his weakness thats why fury went after it like he did :TU:

I figured the guy just showed up for a pay day, tbh. He didnt look like he wanted to be there in the ring with Fury any longer than he had to.

It does appear strange to me, how that fight did end, though. Swaby looked to me like he could have went on, but refused to do so.

If I was fury I would base myself in America, he could do a lot worse than looking up freddie Roach and trying to get into his gymn. He has a lot of promise but the mcdermott fight showed some glaring flaws. For one thing he needs to work on his physical strength and how he gets his power into his punches. I really think roach would be interested in working with such a young quick fisted heavyweight like Fury and if things went well he could be a sensation in America. Forget Haye, if Fury is brought along right he could be ten times as big imo.
