Haye in Khan's dressing room during Mitchell-Prescott

Post by Goz »

Did anyone see/notice the footage between Rounds 6 and 7?

Haye goes in to see Khan, Amir clearly asks how his right hand his, Haye talks for a bit then takes off the protector/cast thing to show him and Roach jumps up to point out there is a camera on them and steps in front of it.

Haye is calm as anything but by the time Roach has moved the cast is back on.

Not doubting the veracity of David's injury, actually find it amusing that Freddie Roach clearly does as he was so keen to inform Haye that a camera was right on them!

Roach was obviously telling him there was a camera in the room. But Haye was quite clearly showing Khan where his hand was f*cked.

Interesting, I saw him in there but missed that bit - maybe he believes a fighter should keep injuries, as a sign of weakness, away from the prying eyes. Maybe the hand is really badly f*cked?
It should be after hitting something the size of Valuev's head.

Yes absolutely, that's how I saw it. But as I said Roach's thought process intrigues me - "I better let David know there's a camera on him in case the hand injury is a load of old bollox" - which says to me this kind of stuff does most definitely go on.

Sorry just being an old gossip.... :OhYes:

Busted showing amir his pinky finger was the only thing he really hurt.

Haye removed what is called a back slab From his hand. Something that is reguarly used for stable fractures of the 5th metacarpal. I have no doubt the injury is real.

The injury is obviously real. Haye was on GMTV or 'This Morning' and showed a severely swollen hand.

I did think the situation was funny as well. Roach clearly thought Haye wouldn't want the cameras seeing it.

Watching this unfold live i assumed Roach had just gotten up to take a look.

I dont doubt David's injury at all. Curious as to why Roach thought he might want to hide it from the camera though. It does seem sinister somehow. Two thoughts spring to mind, both already pointed out above, 1) that Roach, in the split second that he had to evaluate the situation, thought it might be a fake injury or 2) that he should not give away his weaknesses on camera. Or perhaps there's a third option, that Roach thought that if the injury was not visible on camera, it might be discredited by the media and not in Haye's favour to show it off? He's been around a lot and seen it all, perhaps his natural instinct was just to protect him from what he thought was a situation that could potentially have played out bad for Haye?

back slabs can be used for anything..legs..arms etc, its just a non limb encircling plaster in the back of the affected limb..

for hayes injury......movement should be encouraged, as this increases the blood supply and therefore promotes healing.

Your right a back slab can be used for most things and Haye should be encouraged on gentle movement, depending on callus formation at 4 weeks post injury.

My point was both the cast and injury are genuin, something an earler post doubted.

It's genuine. I saw it. Unless it's a huge conspiracy like when they lied to everyone, including me, about him killing himself to make weight before Enzo.

Nah, it's genuine.

Haye's hand injury, and has been asserted a few times in this topic, was genuine. I think we pretty much all agree now.
