Very good question we know Haye was about 800,000 this will have done well to get 10% of that!

I know over 10 people who paid for Haye v the big en, i don't know anyone who paid for Khan's last fight, especially as i told them the ending seveal hours before the fight began.if Khan fights a quality fighter, i'll buy it and so will Joe Public.
Re: How Many PPV did Khan get?
Yeah exactly, put Khan in against a big name like Barrera or someone who brings something to the table like a Maidana/Ortiz then people will buy the PPV, its unfair really to judge his PPV numbers from Kotelnik and Salita Fights.Nightmare Roy wrote:I know over 10 people who paid for Haye v the big en, i don't know anyone who paid for Khan's last fight, especially as i told them the ending seveal hours before the fight began.if Khan fights a quality fighter, i'll buy it and so will Joe Public.
Its the same for Haye....if Ruiz was champion instead of Valuev i doubt he would have sold a quarter of those 800,000 PPV's.

These fights shouldn't really be PPV in that case then, should they? Wouldn't he do better in the long run if the fights such as Kotelnik and Salita were on Sky Sports to build him up, then go PPV later?exittored wrote:Yeah exactly, put Khan in against a big name like Barrera or someone who brings something to the table like a Maidana/Ortiz then people will buy the PPV, its unfair really to judge his PPV numbers from Kotelnik and Salita Fights.Nightmare Roy wrote:I know over 10 people who paid for Haye v the big en, i don't know anyone who paid for Khan's last fight, especially as i told them the ending seveal hours before the fight began.if Khan fights a quality fighter, i'll buy it and so will Joe Public.

Re: How Many PPV did Khan get?
Absolutely agree...Khan was getting 6 million viewers on ITV and probably only 100 or 200k now so was a stupid move all round. His PPV career should have started after the Salita fight seeing as he'll proabably be fighting in America from now on and rumoured to be fighting on the Pac-May undercard.King Tubby wrote:These fights shouldn't really be PPV in that case then, should they? I`ve just had it with our so called big name prospects being built into these big punching crowd pleasing Nigel Benn-esque types ... then coming over all weary and almost John Ruiz-esque in comparison
The David Haye match-up is a clear example .. Mitchel v Prescott was almost as boring to watch ... for me anyway. Maybe thats because I`m neutral and not a big fan or follower of either guy. I just wanted to see both guys swap some heavy leather mid-ring ... isn`t that what watching boxing is all about? neither guy dazzled us with scientific boxing .. just bored me with safety first get the decision boxing ... its certainly moving away from a spectators sport if thats what its all about nowadays..
Give me a Nigel Benn over a Herol Graham or a Hatton over a Witter anyday
Re: How Many PPV did Khan get?
The problems with Khan was that the Gomez fight- which was a good scrap- was on ITV, then an immediate switchover to PPV- against... Prescott?
Some people might have paid, I reckon a lot of others found alternatives, (going to the pub, just in time for the fight etc) and a lot of the more casual audience lost interest.

Re: How Many PPV did Khan get?
It all depends who your opponent is though. Haye will stand in the middle of the ring and trade with the vast majority of heavyweights but to do that with Valuev would have been ridiculous.tonyevs wrote: I`ve just had it with our so called big name prospects being built into these big punching crowd pleasing Nigel Benn-esque types ... then coming over all weary and almost John Ruiz-esque in comparison![]()

Same goes for Mitchell - watch his fight v Carl Johannesson, one of the best domestic fights I have seen for some time. Both fighters were trading and throwing huge shots. Mitchell moves up a weight and in his first fight faces a guy with a huge KO ratio and he doesnt trade but outboxes him instead. I think thats clever boxing and showing adaptability in style.
Of course, the best fights to watch are always two men trading in the centre of the ring but it depends on the match up. Froch is an exciting fighter but look how dull his fight with Dirrell was. I think when he fights Kessler it will be far more exciting, edge of your seat KO stuff.
So it is not necessarily about the boxer himself but also his opponent.

not just you...i enjoyed watching Mitchell put on a quality display and get the result. He got hit a lot versus Johanneson but against Prescott he was fleet of foot, in and out, and hewasn't afraid to let the leather go when he got close. It was a lovely display and a cracking result.
Prescott showed a lot of competence even late in the fight and was a threat throughout, and Kev dealt with him in style.
( i told you I make positive posts sometimes lol)

Re: How Many PPV did Khan get?
i sent an E-mail to Vigin media and they Refunded my cash
I complained about the Transmition problems that resulted in me missing one of the fights
so im happy about that
thought i would chance my arm
Also a guy in my work says he bought it but watcherd it the next day and they missed out rounds in the mitchell fight and
the Frankie Gavin fight.
Is this what happens ? , i thought the Replay was the Full card again which it should be for 15 quid.

Re: How Many PPV did Khan get?
To be honest I'm not fussed either way about Khan.
I just can't get interested in him.
Having said that, this continuous dig at boxers in general about how their career is being managed confuses me.
Likt it or like it not, these guys aren't in the ring for us, they're there to make money as swiftly as possible, win credibale titles along the way, then get the hell out of there with their health in tact.
If you believe it any different you are being dillusional.
Khan starts his career on ITV.
They then run out of cash.
Sky make him an offer he can't refuse.
You then expect him to say tell you what, I'll fight for 10% of what I can get on Sky, stay on ITV and do it for the people.
Yeah right.
What would you do ?
Come on guys get real.
I just can't get interested in him.

I dunno, you hear different things - for example I recall Warren saying that the only way he can pay Amir "what he wants" is to move the shows onto PPV.
He was half apologising for it. Or at least that's how it came across to me.
Others have commented that the money left in the kitty after paying Amir don't really leave much left for the opponent or undercard fights.

Spot on Gomez.
Everything you say is accurate.
I would wager a decent bet that Wazza has lost money on Khan.
