For the vacant Un-Super title.
A real war, and guess what....The American gets a close decision ( majority I think ) in Germany!
These two put on a great fight. Both very confident and going for a knockout from round one. Rivera lands a huge right hand in the 2nd and sends Tabrant sprawling, but the bell rings & saves the German.
He takes a good punch though and comes back well, hurting Rivera in rounds 4 & 5 with body shots and hard left hooks and right hands.
Very sharp boxing from both, Rivera is very heavy handed and Trabant takes some real punishment, but shows a huge heart to come back everytime.
Both trade great shots throughout and it was very close - a real suprise the German didn't get a close one. He looks the best welterweight in Europe by far - can really fight and will surely get another shot soon.
Trabant v Rivera - WBA Welterweight title fight result

The fight was good in terms of that there was a lot of action.
It looked more like a WBF than a WBA title fight though.
Trabant has heart but he has no footwork, no power, stamina problems(always had) and he should learn to keep his hands high. It may look tough but it isn't.
Rivera is nothing special either. No speed and his defense isn't really what it should be. Balance average.
Can't believe this was for a legitimate world title. It was fun to watch and score though.
I had it 117-115 Rivera

Think you're a little too harsh there Dutch - both guys showed much more skill in one round than the whole 12 rounds of that WBO middle title on same bill.Dutch Windmill wrote:The fight was good in terms of that there was a lot of action.

Rivera looks a banger with a good chin, that's hard to come by..Trabant has a huge heart, and some of those sweeping left hooks of his looked pretty hard to me - Rivera is one tough hombre, and he was shaking his head in disbelief at the end. I'd been reading about him putting over good light heavies in sparring with those body shots last week.
Whatever, it was a great fight. Hope Oscar/Mosley is as good
