Towers of Power, Incorporated HQ
The undefeated light heavyweight and heavyweight winner of the golden gloves James J. Braddock has signed on with Towers of Power, Inc and has been assigned Charlie Goldman, the man who made Marciano the only undefeated heavyweight champion in history, as his sole trainer for this forty-week Sim tournament! Braddock will be signed on to take on another popular Irish American Wayne Thornton, the man who gave Jose Torres all he could stand for fifteen rounds.
Braddock, ever the humble man, says: "I aim to do my best against a world class roster, the best of the best are all here; I hope to make my mark on this Sim division, I think the Calzaghe's and Hopkins generation will be surprised what a light heavyweight James J. Braddock can do, I'm certainly no bum at the weight!"
Thornton/Braddock will be scheduled for 10 rounds.

Wayne Thornton, imho, would be a good test for the 175 pounders. He was a title challenger, and even dabbled at heavyweight some. When you hear Thornton, you cant help but be sucked into the whole John Wayne epic The Quiet Man. He was quite the popular guy in his day for a contender. That being said, Braddock is too strong, imo, for him.jBacca wrote:Wayne Thornton will be facing Gene Tunney if you're not quick enough..

'The Little Giant of Hanover' Tommy Burns signs on with Towers of Power, Inc!
The greatest 175 pounder of the early 20th century, the man who would become heavyweight champion of the world, who bested the best middleweights, light heavyweights and heavyweights of his time, has signed on with TOP, Inc! Burns is scheduled to perform against perrenial loser 'The Anti-Marciano' Eric Crumble in a scheduled ten round bout to open up the 40 week Sim tournament.
Critics have raised eyebrows over Burns choice in Crumble, the 0-31-0 middleweight who never made it passed the 2nd round, as his first opponent. A representative of TOP claims that Burns wanted to meet the 'legend that is Crumble' because he could scarcely believe anyone could have actually been that terrible in the sport. In a ways this is a meeting between two legendary fighters from both ends of the spectrum, Crumble from the lowest of the sport's depths and Burns as one of its all-time greats, a true hall of famer.
Burns was quoted as saying for the press, "Like Braddock said in his interview, I believe without any question or doubt that the Calzaghe/Hopkins generation is going to be surprised by what two old-timers can do here. Braddock and I both were great fighters at 175 and beyond, while these men have had problems breaking 175, look at the Greene fight, Jones was blown away in one round. I would have knocked a guy like Greene all around the ring and made him look very foolish."
Whether that's true is yet to be seen, but no matter how you slice it, Braddock and Burns are here to stay in this 168-175 pound tournament, and are a great edition to the Sim world of professional boxing.

sorry
re-edited it from O'Brien to Burns
Re: TOP Inc Signs James J. Braddock!!!
Billy Conn will show either of your "NEWLY AVAILABLE" (god damn it to hell!) Fighters the door in short order. Hey while we are at it let's just bring George Foreman into the fold.....certainly he was a light heavyweight as a teenager. We choose him as our second choice.

Braddock is booked this week against Thornton, and next week against one of SAV's guys, but Braddock will be ready come week three if you're interested. Burns on the other hand, is booked with Crumble this week, but is available for week two if you are interested Buzz.

Re: TOP Inc Signs James J. Braddock!!!
Well, as I have it right now, the schedule goes as follows:
Braddock vs Thornton, week one
Braddock vs Moore, week two
Braddock vs Conn, week three
Braddock vs Loughran, week four
Burns vs Crumble, week one
Burns vs Conn, week two
Burns vs TBA, week three
Burns vs Toney, week four
The Little Giant of Hanover has no opponent booked for week three, other than that, we're pretty well prepared. Weeks two and four will be the tough ones, imho, risking kayo losses, otherwise we ought to split decision wins/losses and be able to fight the next weeks. Better safe than sorry. Doing more, by making deals, than these other twats who take up all the time in the world.
