A few corrections for AUSSIE fighters!!

Post by Mundine »

These corrections are very small and pointless but I have plenty of time on my hands so I thought I would mention them.

* Firstly, the little bit of info under Mundine's win over Antwun Echols does not make sense (how can a title be vancanted  ). I think it should say:

the WBA Super Middleweight title was vacated after former champion Sven Ottke was declared a "Super" champion

* Secondly, Mundine was deducted 2 points for a headbutt in round four against Ottke. However, it was in Germany and if you ever get to watch the tape, I think you could see that it was clearly a controversial call by the referee. Maybe it could say:

Mundine controversially deducted 2 points for a headbutt in round 4

*Thirdly, for every IBF Pan Pacific title is it neccessary to mention that the IBF Supervisor was Ray Wheatly? Don't get me wrong, I resepct everything Ray Wheatly has done (especially for aussie boxing) but I don't think it's very necessary (ithe supervisor is never mentioned for other titles).

* For Danny Green, his second defence of his OBA light heavyweight title against Paula Tuilau says Oceanic Boxing Association. That's the right name but when he first won it - it just says OBA title. I think both should say either OBA or Oceanic Boxing Association. Not one of each (I told you they were pointless, but still necessary  )

* Also, Danny Greens fight against jason Delisle is for the VACANT OPBF title, as the title had just been vacated by a japanese fighter.

* And finally, for Sven Ottke, after he won the WBA title against Byron Mitchell, the WBA was above the IBF. Then for his next two defences, the IBF is above the WBA. I think that should be reversed.[/b]

I wouldn't want to make Ray Wheatley angry with me, or I'll be supervised into hospital :D

I still think it should say "after FORMER CHAMPION Sven Ottke was declared a "Super" champion"

Just sounds better and is more accurate than "when Sven Ottke was upgraded to "Super" champion status"

Forget the status bit...

I disagree, what Mundine holds is essentially an interim title, although with even less justification than interim titles usually have, as Ottke is both uninjured and active. Ottke is still the real WBA champion. Maybe the note should say something along the same lines as the notes for interim titles such as:

"World Champion"
Title created following WBA proclaiming Sven Ottke "Super Champion" due to him holding both WBA and IBF Super Middleweight World Titles
