Bragging Rights Corner MAYWEATHER VS PACQUIAO
IN JEOPARDY AS PACQUIAO REFUSES TO COMPLY WITH UNITED
STATES ANTI DOPING DRUG TESTING PROCEDURES... The mega-fight between
Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is now in jeopardy after
Golden Boy Promotions, on behalf of Mayweather Promotions,
learned today that Manny Pacquiao is refusing to comply with
Olympic style drug testing as outlined and mandated by the
United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA) and as requested by Mayweather's
management to ensure fair play and sportsmanship by
both fighters.

Begs the question, is PacMan on something?

Don't see why any fighter would refuse to be drug tested randomly.

Absolutely shellshocked.
Hopefully it's just perversely a way of keeping the fight in the public eye.

He's agreed to have the test IMMEDIATELY after the fight so what is the problem? There would be no point in him taking drugs during training and not having them in his system for the big fight when he'd need them most. Just because he won't bend over for all of Mayweather's demands makes him a cheat?

There is a bigger thread on this subject on current scene but I think it's disgraceful what he's been accused of. If he is found guilty I'll hold my hands up and never post on here again.

Steroids are more for preparation than the actual event. You do realise they help with stamina and strength training right? There's more use for them during training than actually in the fight! When you come off of them you don't magically lose everything you gained by being on them.
They can easily can be flushed out of his system by fight time and so won't show up after the fight.

IF he has nothing to hide then he can take the test. His rep will be damaged beyond repair if he doesn't take the test.
If he does take the test then gets blasted out in the fight then this would also add fuel to the fire that he's been on something before. Seems like he can't win unless he takes the test, passes and wins the fight. :box:

Ive always been skeptical of Pacquiao even more so recently the way he has just steamrolled through naturally bigger world class fighters with the greatest of ease.

In my opinion something just isn't right with it.

Its a tricky one this, on the one hand why does Pacquiao not just get on with it and comply with whatever tests they want and get the fight on? On the other hand, who does Mayweather think he is demanding Omlympic style drug testing, he's sending out the message that boxing in regards to drug testing is unregulated, or at the least that the Neveda State Athletic Commision are not carrying out adequate tests.

Mayweather says the reason for the tests is that he does not want to fight at a disadvantage. That's laughable, he's turned handicapping his opponents into an art-form. Everything i have read in the run up to this fight is that Mayweather wants it at 154, Mayweather wants 10oz gloves etc etc etc.

Mayweather's a great talent, but i fail to see what real good he does for our sport!

In case it isn't covered in the story:

A week ago Pacman had a tattoo. Today Arum is claiming Pacman is afraid of needles. Something is either very fishy here, or it's just PR to hype up the fight. I REALLY hope it's the latter or we may have another Richard Hall incident.

You can't blame Floyd. If Manny's got nothing to hide then take the test. If he takes it, passes it, and kicks Floyd's arse, he makes Floyd look like a right c***.

If he refuses to take it.... well, that's for the fans to decide.

Agree entirely. Any drug testing demands are nothing all to do with either fighters' camp and should be done under the direction of the Nevada State Athletic Commission alone.

Mayweather mind games well under way.

Even if you accept this, the reaction of Pacman' camp is extremely worrying, particularly in light of Emerson's disclosure regardin the tattoo.

Totally agree. What has Manny got to moan about? Its a completely fair requirement. It can only be a good thing that it is explicit that both men are clean. Whether Mayweather is demanding it or not... in the circumstances (given that this is a massive fight and the mutterings surrounding Manny's recent performances) it is totally justified imo.

Just out of interest, who was James Toney training under when he failed his steroid test a few years ago?

Agree, although I'm not that surprised by it. Floyd once said the sport of Boxing dies without him...that speaks volumes for the prick he really is.

Isn't urine testing the most sure fire way to test anyway?

I knew something was going to scupper this fight.

Are there any direct quotes from the Manny camp about this? Heart's ruling my head at the moment, I hope this all comes to nothing and I hope (and still think) Manny is clean.

Where does it say that? Every article I've read said that Bob Arum told Richard Schaefer that Pacquiao doesn't like having his blood taken in the lead up to fights, that's not necessarily to do with being scared of needles, it could be anything, it could just be a superstition.
http://www.BS.com/?m=show&id=24279

Bob Arum is quoted as saying Pacquiao has a big phobia of needles but as Emerson correctly pointed out he had a tattoo not so long ago which obviously involves needles so something isn't adding up.

I have had doubts about Pacman but always gave him the benefit of the doubt but this episode has pushed me more towards thinking he is doing some sort of steroids. As someone already said, there is no fire without fuel

Manny has been handicapping opponents too, and this is just the first blow in a long psychological game between the two camps. Roach probably has a few tricks up his sleeve but probably wasn’t expecting the Mayweather team to strike so soon!

There are already rules in place that govern this, but they aren't good enough for Floyd?

Who on earth does he think he is? I had Floyd pegged to outbox Manny, but I don't think he fancies the job. Manny shouldn't agree to the demand, he certainly doesn't need Mayweather's scalp as badly as Mayweather needs his! For me it's Floyd who looks bad here, not Manny, why should he agree to rules that no other fighter needs to adhere to just for the privelage of fighting Mayweather?

Mayweather can pull this crap with a guy like Paul Williams or someone who would walk through fire to get him in a ring, but he doesn't have the clout here, he's fighting a man who trumped his best wins with consumate ease and overtook him by beating Cotto.

Mayweather should be on bended knee to get this thing signed and sealed but instead he's asking for the sport's existing rules to be altered before he'll agree to fight. I don't think it's mind games, I don't think he wants the fight, I think he's scared that Manny's the fighter who'll find that family chin.

Most Asians prefer to get tattooed using bamboo rather than needles anyway, so him having a new tattoo doesn't automatically mean he's ok with needles.

Do you want to clarify that with some facts? Pacquiao's been moving up in weight most of his career, so is most often the one with the disadvantage IMO.
