The Chicago Tribune sponsored a tournament on March 9, 1928 it appears all the contestants in the finals except 2 were from Chicago proper, one Robert Jahrend was from Deerfield, Il, the other C R McConahoy was from Danville, IL. It has been listed as at least once as the Western regional finals, the results on this list in 1928 except Joe Bozak match, my research revealed Chicago started entering teams from other cities in 1932 when it became known as the Tournament of Champions. At what time the Chicago tournaments were combined or if they ever were I don't know yet. The first fighter listed making the final from out of the state was Buck Everett of Gary, IN in 1929.
1928 to 1962 there have been city/metro championships fought before these results. There definitely was at one point (example city Bob Satterfield in 1941).
1962-1963 it appears the results are from the finals of the US Golden Gloves held in Chicago they match although fighters were supposed to have fighters from the east participating it appears none were in the final unless the fought out of western cities for the time.
1964 on they appear to be the National Golden Gloves.
I have also have seen this list displayed as the National Golden Glove, which only the later part is correct.
