It would seem that the lengthy mediation period between the representatives of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather jr have failed miserably.

Speaking to the USA today, Bob Arum declared that "Floyd Mayweather walked away,"

"Our guy was agreeable, Mayweather wasn't. It's not surprising. I always felt that he wasn't going to do the fight. He knows Manny will beat him. Mayweather's never stepped into the ring with a guy he had any question but that he was going to beat."

"That's why there's never been a (Shane) Mosley, there's never been a (Antonio) Margarito, there never was a (Miguel) Cotto, and there's no Pacquiao. Floyd Mayweather is a coward." said Arum.

Following a whole day's mediation, during which Arum declared that Pacquiao would agree to 24-day testing rather than 30 days, Team Mayweather rejected the idea, thus rendering the fight dead.

The revised testing was backed by experts whom agreed that the period would still detect the use of any performance enhancing drugs.

According to Arum, he will now look to negotiate a fight for Manny with Yuri Foreman who is unbeaten and recently captured the light middleweight WBA title.

It would mark yet another step up in weight for the Philippine fighting machine and underlines his talent in confidence, which has seemingly worried Mayweather.

'Pretty Boy' has often came under scrutiny for swerving the finest in his division for several years. Whilst proving beyond doubt his greatness at the lower weights, since his arrival at light-welter he was accused of moving up to avoid the challenges of WBO champion Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton and the then IBF champion Kostya Tszyu.

Since his arrival at welterweight, he has only fought Sharmba Mitchell and Zab Judah (who both started out a division below). His only acid test came in the tough, but taylor made fight with Carlos Baldomir. A strong but extremely slow and technically limited short-term champion.

Mayweather earned kudos for taking on De La Hoya at light middleweight - in a fight with tremendous financial incentives - but was given a torrid fight by the goldenboy and talks of a rematch soon fizzled out.

Whilst we can sympathise with Mayweather's stance on the testing, the accusations against Pacquiao have been completely baseless. Pac has never been tested positive for anything illegal and the argument has been seen purely as one to unsettle the current pound for pound king.

Arum is as big a crook in Boxing as there is(allegedly of course )but he has a point when he highlights Mayweather has so far refused to fight Mosely, Margarito and Cotto. He could have also granted DLH a rematch as Floyd scraped that fight(1 maybe 2 rounds at the most)imo.
For a guy who claims to be such a legend and who has "mixed it" in an around welter for so long, it's poor that he hasn't faced at least one of them 3 above, let alone Pacman and thats also forgetting Williams.

I just dont get why so many people stand behind Mayweather on this issue. He has just plain walked away from the most lucrative fight in boxing history, all because he is suspicious Pacquiao is using illegal drugs of some sort. Give me a fcuking break.

I'd like to know why the fighters are getting involved in all this testing row,sureley the rules are set by the governing bodies not the fighters,if the various commisions were happy then why wasn't mayweather.

I'm still hopeful its just being postponed - March 13th was a crap date for it.

If Floyd lets this opportunity pass he will have destroyed his legacy. The decision not to fight Pacquiao will haunt him for the rest of his life and no amount of money will comfort him.

Will happen later in the year, too much money not too happen, all this is probably part of the hype.

Bare in mind though if the fight doesnt happen, its Pac who turned down $40m in exchange for 1ml of blood

Apparently Pac demanded a public apology from Mayweather if they wanted the fight
