Mayweather Fires Back at Pacquiao
Posted by Ramon Aranda on 01.07.2010

Floyd makes an official statement.

With questions still coming in about what exactly went wrong through the negotiation process for the proposed March 13th super fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., Floyd has issued the following statement:

"Throughout this whole process I have remained patient, but at this point I am thoroughly disgusted that Pacquiao and his representatives are trying to blame me for the fight not happening when clearly the blame is on them.

"First and foremost, not only do I want to fight Manny Pacquiao, I want to whip his punk ass.

"Before the mediation, my team proposed a 14-day, no blood testing window leading up to the fight. But it was rejected. I am still proposing the 14-day window but he is still unwilling to agree to it, even though this is obviously a fair compromise on my part as I wanted the testing to be up until the fight and he wanted a 30-day cut-off. The truth is he just doesn't want to take the tests.

"In my opinion it is Manny Pacquiao and his team who are denying the people a chance to see the biggest fight ever. I know the people will see through their smokescreens and lies. I am ready to fight and sign the contract. Manny needs to stop making his excuses, step up and fight."

This 14 day claim is being strongly denied by team Pacquiao.

It does seem fishy that team Mayweather never thought to mention this before. The tables turned on them very quickly yesterday and all of a sudden they fire back with a story that they offered Pacquiao a 14 day window before mediation even started??? Surely if they had made such an offer they would have shouted it to the world in an effort to show that they are the ones trying to compromise!

I think its bollocks on the part of team Mayweather, they got stung yesterday and are now desperately trying to save face!

Zzzzzzz....

No Cotto, no Margarito, no Mosley, no Williams and now no Pacquaio on the self styled greatest of all time's record.

For someone who has fought at and above welter for 4-5 years whilst claiming to be the best, thats pretty poor.

Any of those fights could have been made in recent years yet for some reason Floyd hasn't laced up the gloves and shared a ring with any of them.

He likes the attention but it's getting boring. I don't think he has the hunger anymore.
There is only so many times he can flirt with these challenges and not go through with it.

14 day has NOT been denied by PAC, Pac etc wanted 24 days..

REMEMBER WE ARE DEALING WITH ARUM.

ALSO,PBF ASKED FOR COTTO TWICE IN YEARS GONE BY 'ARUM SAID COTTO WAS NOT READY' - PBF ASKED FOR SHANE, SHANE HAD A TOOTH ACHE, CHECK OUT YOUTUBE FOR THE VIDEO.

AS FOR 'MARGACHEATO' - WHO HE?

ARUM IS EXACTLY AS BITTER AS ALLEGEDLY WHEN FIGHTERS LEAVE HIM.

Hang on Floyd wanted Shane? So he picks and chooses his juicers then?

Margarito never had dodgy wraps, it's a Jewish conspiracy against Mexicans IMO.

Sorry but as much as I like watching Floyd fight, I simply cannot give him a free pass on those potential match ups.
Too many fights have slipped by him.

He has the ability to beat such fighters but he doesn't have the hunger.

As for Arum? Crook, but I don't care about him to be honest, I want to see one of the best fighters of his generation face genuine challenges that will set him above his peers. As it is, he hasn't achieved as much as he could have done.

When all is done and dusted people won't talk about who didn't want to meet certain demands etc, all people will read is Mayweahter not having the best 3/4 fighters of that division on his record.

Didn't Mayweather call out Mosley and co before he even fought Gatti? Pretty sure Gatti was his ppv event. Doesn't take a genius to work out Mosley(and DLH)had bigger fish to fry back then, both literally and financially.
Cotto was a vulnerable, drained light welter too when Floyd offered to fight him.
See, it can be spun easily.
Paul Williams has offered time and again to come down and fight anybody. Never heard Floyd mention his name as a possible opponent and I wonder why!(to be fair, no one wants to fight Paul Williams at 147, mainly because they know they are in for a hard nights work)
I don't care about the preening and ruffling of the feathers, for me all that matters is that he faces at least one of them before he calls it a day and I honestly don't see it happening.

More recent Mayweather-Mosley exchange.

Not sure if it's because B-Hop is behing Shane but Floyd seems a little passive and flustered there.

See my other thread on Shane and PBF.

PBF wants to fight Cotto Mosley and others they say no WHEN THEY WERE THE NAME/MONEY etc, then when THEY WANT TO FIGHT PBF he says 'you do not bring the money/name etc - I do not need you!!

Its true.

If he's remotely concerned about legacy, he does need them.

PBF is self proclaimed. He makes his own version of a 'Legacy'.

Pac will have the drug test mentioned for life!

DG, I don't actually understand your post if I'm honest. Anyone can make their own version, but that is hardly ever the one that makes it into the history books.
If Floyd's not remotely concerned about that and is just about the money then that's fair enough. But if he is genuinely interested in being regarded as a GOAT candidate then he has failed dismally in that goal.

Just like Mayweather Sr, PBF says he is 'The Best' - PBF does not care what we think. He wants the cash and says he is THE GOAT.

Pac refused too take a random drug test, bottom line. PacGate.

De La Hoya @ 147
Vernon Forest twice @ 147
De La Hoya @ 154
Winky Wright twice @ 154
Fernando Vargas twice @ 154
Miguel Cotto @ 147
Ricardo Mayorga @ 154
Antonio Margarito @ 147

Are we really supposed to believe that Mosley has been avoiding Mayweather @ 147? I've seen all the quips, even from Richard Schaefer, saying Mosley rejected a proposition (never an official offer) to face Mayweather some time ago, but i am certain there is much more to the story than Mosley flat out refusing because he did not fancy the task. From what i can recal from a Mosley interview some time ago, the timing of the proposition was the key reason it never got of the ground.

Anyhow, even if Mosley did turn down Mayweather at some point, is that reason enough for Mayweather to flat out refuse to fight him now? If you nask me, its just another get out clause from Floyd.

So many big names out there for Mayweather over the last 5 or more and he has failed to fight any of them. The guy's a fcuking joke!

The press conference where Floyd was on the verge of bursting into tears after getting booed(think it may have been the Baldomir fight) and talking about retiring showed to me that he cares quite alot about what people think of him.

He refuses to fight Mosley because 'once upon a time' he offered Mosley the fight and Mosley apparently declined. Mayweather now feels thats reason for him to flat out refuse Mosley "if he would'nt fight me then, i wont fight him now". Its more playground stuff from Mayweather!

IT MEANS HE WAS SHOWING THE HUMAN SIDE TO THE BRASHNESS.

BUT........................END OF THE DAY, PBF BELIEVES WHAT PBF WANTS TO BELIEVE.

HE BELIEVES HE IS THE GOAT AND UNDERAPPRECIATED, BUT HE IS STILL ARRIOGANT AND EGO DRIVEN ENOUGH TO DRY HIS TEARS AND JUMP IN HIS BENTLEY AND THROW $100 BILLS INTO THE AIR.

No BONGO, the reason is Mosley was a BIGGER star than PBF at the time, now PBF is the bigger STAR Mosley is not so important to PBF.

ALSO, PBF said Mosley does not sell much on ppv - TRUE - Mosley countered by saying he sold out STAPLES CENTRE with 20,000 - PBF countered by saying the tickets were very cheap and that he grossed more at the door selling 6K tickets than Mosley at 20K tickets... TRUE!

Mosley backed out of the fight by saying his tooth was loose!!!

PEOPLE HATE PBF BECAUSE HE IS YOUNG GIFTED AND BLACK.........and a bit of a prick at times.

Mayweather is without a shadow of a doubt the best boxer I've seen, but his recent 10 or so opponents do not reflect this IMO. His head is so far up his own arse that we miss out on Great clashes such as him vs Manny/Mosley

Last 10 opponents
JMM - jumped up 2 weights to fight him
Hatton -
DLH - his most competitive contest of recent time
Baldomir - no comment necessary
Judah - already lost to Kostya, Spinks & Baldomir
Mitchell - 35 at the time and not a great
Gatti - Total mismatch by that stage
Bruseles - Who?
Corley - Never been earth shattering
N'Dou - Who?

Ordinarily that would be a respectable resume, but when you're in Floyds class it's very disappointing, especially when you consider the names he could've fought. He's gone down the Calzaghe route in recent times IMO

Your backing the wrong horse my friend. Will there ever come a point where you will cut your losses and accept Mayweather is consistently dodging the dangerous fights?

As for the tooth thing, it seems extremely far fetched to me. Big fights these days (excluding Pac-Mayweather) are always organised around 4 months in advance, so its hard to believe a true warrior like Mosley would even consider using toothache as an escape route.

All of these claims that Mosley ducked Mayweather are never backed up by any substantial evidence.

he can moan about mosley turning the fight down 3 yrs ago all he wants.

it's here and now that we all care about.

he's the same promoter as u floyd. :o

make the fight happen.
