Re: O/T: visiting ireland
My friend has just recently been over and went round West Cork, Kerry, Galway, Mayo etc and basically just soaked up the Guinness in the local pubs, joined in with the musicians and bands that often play and did some fishing, horse riding and hung out basically.

I would recommend getting around to as many places as possible if you have a car. County Kerry and West Cork are musts if you are looking to see the 'real' Ireland. Villages and towns such as An Daingean[Dingle], Valentia Island, Ventry, Waterville, Kenmare etc- the Ring of Kerry.
I am not sure if this will be open when you are there but it is definitely worth checking out-from a village called Portmagee in Co.Kerry you are able to get a boat out to two massive rocks in the middle of the Atlantic called the Skelligs, they are the site of an old monastery. You are literally standing on a rock in the middle of the sea miles from land-how anyone lived there is beyond belief. The weather has to be half decent though or else the boat men won't bring you out.
Galway is a carnival city in a way, some of the best pubs in Ireland are to be found in the middle of the city.
There is so much you can do over here, the cliffs of Moher and the Burren in Co. Clare are also things that might interest you. There is something you can do and places of interest in every County.
The little villages always have the best Guinness
Again I would recommend to getting around to as much as possible but plan it out before you get over because our roads[although improving] and directions are terrible.
