Norton v Dolan proper scrap tonight

Post by funso banjo baby »

the cruisers need another great fight tonight

almost too close to call

both guys fought each other last year and did nothing much else over the twelve months

Dolan is the new golden boy and should be sharper and able to adapt in the rematch

a win for Dolan has to be better for the division but Norton is a tough cookie

Could someone give a general description of how the fight went last time? I missed it somehow.

Rob Norton has been around for bloomin years.

Dolan put up a great effort and floored Norton twice in the fourth round and again in the eighth, but Norton clambered up and floored Dolan twice back, although the five knockdowns were not all 'clean' knockdowns, in a gruelling, scrappy affair.
Dolan had never travelled past six rounds before and that showed in the second half of the fight, as the vastly more experienced Norton did the better work - but it was always competitive.

What happened was that Dolan did not move his head once, and looked only slightly more fluid than a Rock'em Sock'em Robot. He showed plenty of heart, and fair bit of pop, but unless he's thrown off some of the amatuer shackles (or Norton's gotten old) I reckon he'll get beaten a second time.

Well both hurt each other..... down 5 times in total - I cannot remember how each fighter went down.

A real barnstormer - Norton just had the more in the tank and eeked out a deserving decision. If I remember there was some curious score cards.

Norton just knew too much, and was definately the one finishing stronger. I've based my pick this time on maybe Dolan not being a 12 round fighter and getting a split decision.

I agree a Dolan win might be better for Cruiserweight devision, but I would like to see Norton get a big pay day late in his career - he's been messed around a fair amount in his time.
