frank w arren has been putting on some good shows lately the rogan v sexton originaly had ckleverly fry on the undercard, the smith v quigley was supposed to have jennings v brook on the undercard and the two shows hes got lined up look really good, and as much of am not a fan of amir khan the undercard on his shows are quality just hope he continues

the Hatton card was competative, the match ups even and the "opponants" all came to win.

Best show I have been at in ages.

All the Hatton match ups are great, i think he'll be the top domestic promoter in the next five / ten years, he puts on a better show than hennesy thats for sure, he'll make alot of fighters names for them.

Hatton could take two unknowns and create a small hall classic, makes a change from some poor schmuck getting spanked by someone who isnt that good but still outclasses them.

Yes he seems to make very good cards with evenly matched fighters and doesnt go too easy on his prospects.

No just fans are getting frustrated and dare I say, sceptical, about the frequencies of these pull outs.

There doesn't seem to be a plan b.... Hennessy had his fair share of problems with pull outs, but the subsitute opponent was always acceptable or he would add a different fight to it which had intrigue.

This Hatton bill had 4 to 5 really competitive fights. 4 of them worthy of headlining a Friday night fight (rematches to 2 of the best fights of 2009 on the same night). So if one of them didn't work out, the public couldn't have complained.

Worry is, and its an important one..... you had 2 title fights, 1 eliminator on this bill and it was a big card - and the venue was half empty.

A good point, I was there last night from the beginning to the end and at times it did seem pretty empty, last time I was there was for Murray / Thaxton and it was jammed then.

Regarding last night, most fights had the fans supporting it, maybe because the fighters were from various places meant the interest in the other fights for them was low. Would be interesting to know how many tickets they sold

I thought the crowd was quite ok despite both fighters were not from the region.

I dont think the atmosphere was great but id say the show was resonably attended by somewhat quiet fans

I thought it was a pretty decent turn out actually.

The crowd that was there made plenty of noise and Tim Coleman made up for any empty seats!

I could only judge it from about the last 3rd of the Norton fight - it was such a bad fight maybe the crowd went to the bar - just seemed like it was empty seat after empty seat.

Alot of the boxers on last night were also from out of area - which Id rather have to watch competitive fights than a few popular local lads knocking over tomato cans.

Top Show, nice touch with the big screen showing replays and live footage even though it was a small hall show and the evening had a quality feel about it. Jennings security were also spot on - polite and friendly and very proffesional, unlike some of the security firms ive seen at shows - and certainly better than the MEN area farce.
Definately fantastic value for money, Will attend Hattons future shows without a second thought.

Yes, it was very well organised. It appears that fighter treats his fighters the way he would like to be treated which is encouraging.

Apparently they sold about 80% of the tickets.
A lot of the fans left after the Thompson fight and there were quite a few up in the bar.
IMO the fight wasn't sold very well, Norton-Dolan in Manchester isn't great and Hatton are still learning but the fights on the bill were excellent.
Both Joe Murray's and Stephen Foster's opponents, though foreign, came to win and gave a cracking effort. For Foster it was a great comeback fight and for Murray a real learning experience.

I'm not sure you're allowed to take drink into the arena? I don't think you can at the MEN for example or at Robin Park in Wigan?
I don't think it's a Hatton decision either way.

Entirely dependant on how attractive the TV revenue is - Hatton Promotions will be able to take a loss of sorts for so long before they get p*ssed off with running at a loss - I suspect there could be a number of new signings in the next 6 months.

Entirely dependant on how attractive the TV revenue is - Hatton Promotions will be able to take a loss of sorts for so long before they get p*ssed off with running at a loss - I suspect there could be a number of new signings in the next 6 months.

They'll make a loss to begin with and may well on future shows but it's the television money that will help them. They have plenty of fighters there all around British title level as well as Macklin and potentially Lawton as Euro champs. The more champions, the more TV dates and more income for them.

Booze hasnt been allowed into the hall for a number of years at British boxing shows. The ban was bought in following several beer fuelled riots incl James Murray v Drew Docherty, amongst others..

I can understand that reasoning but surely they can get booze fuelled pre fight and in the bar and cause a riot.

It's really detrimental to bring new fans to see boxing if they cant enjoy it as a normal night out as well. I know this from expereince with my friends that are casual fans.

Hatton's next show in Stoke with Lawton fighting for the European title looks interesting.
