The Greatest 12 Rounder of the Modern Era
Re: The Greatest 12 Rounder of the Modern Era
I would have the first 3 rounds as Hagler vs Hearns!
Re: The Greatest 12 Rounder of the Modern Era
Bobby Chacon v Rafael Limon 4 is greater than the rest of the list combined.
Re: The Greatest 12 Rounder of the Modern Era
GATTI v WARD 1 ROUND 9 was better than Round 9: John David Jackson v Jorge Castro.
Re: The Greatest 12 Rounder of the Modern Era
i for one would like to say well done, great effort IMO. Never going to please everyone, but I'd say thats a damned fine effort!!
Look forward to watching them at home later, bloody work restrictions.

Re: The Greatest 12 Rounder of the Modern Era
fair enough but i don 't think it would serve to cover every round, there was not a lot going on in the first round of that one for start, and there are rounds in the above selection every bit as good as the individual rounds of Chacon - Limon 4, IMOThe Law wrote:I totally agree.Poncey wrote:Bobby Chacon v Rafael Limon 4 is greater than the rest of the list combined.

Re: The Greatest 12 Rounder of the Modern Era
Round 10 of Corrales would have been laughed at if it was Rocky movie. Such was the hollywoodesque nature of the comeback
But Round 10 will always have to be Tyson v Douglas. The significance of what was being witnessed. Iron Mike, the baddest man on the planet, sprawled on the canvas.
Surely the most signifacnt round in the history of boxing?

I would have picked Ward-Gatti Round 9 aswell but Castro-Jackson was a thriller too, think Castro was nearly floored before catching Jackson with a great left hook. Jackson was cruising to victory in that fight.Ketchel wrote:GATTI v WARD 1 ROUND 9 was better than Round 9: John David Jackson v Jorge Castro.

How about a domestic one?
Round 1- Benn v McClellan
Round 2- Earl v Katsidis
Please continue

Round 3 Haye Barrett, for magnitude more than excitment. This was the round Haye announced himself to the heavyweight division.
Can I make a case for Calzaghe Mitchell to be round 2 ?

Re: The Greatest 12 Rounder of the Modern Era
Domestic wise Hobson v Enzo had a few notable ounds. And then there is Rigby-Ayers that also ahd a few barnstoming rounds, lets not forget and Carl J v Kevin Mitchell with a few tasty rounds
If we are talking about on these shores with at least one domestic opponent then Thompson v Sellers was insane all 4 rounds
Probably not enough quality to be included in this domestic list but I liked the Khan Gomez round where Gomez visibly hurt Khan to the body and he responded with a 10-15 punch combo

12 fantastic rounds!MachoMan09 wrote:You may have seen this before. If you haven't, it is well worth looking at. Andrew Harrison has compiled, what in his opinion, are the greatest 12 rounds of the modern era. The article brings up some fantastic memories and there is video footage for each round for you to enjoy.

That is genius. I may have some slight debates over a few, but that is mere white noise. I salute you.
