Chambers V Wlad ...

Post by Wales »

Is there actually any point whatsoever in this fight being made?Does anyone think Chambers will go in and have a go? He lost a UD to Povetkin, and squeeked past Dimitrenko in his last outing. Didnt he come in at about 205lbs for dimitrenko fight too???

Boxing really needs4 or 5 decent, ambitious, aggressive heavyweights to come through the ranks. We seem to have a conveyor belt of mediocrity.

He didn't squeak past Dimitrenko, he beat the ever living daylights out of him, dropped him twice (only one was counted) & completely outboxed him. The card that was returned a draw was an abortion. I had him about nine points up.

Also, at fourteen & a half stone (or whatever it was) he looked in fabulous shape & had twice the stamina he displayed against Povetkin.

I see no problem with the match -- other than that you can cavil that Povetkin deserves the shot. But not taking the fight is Povetkin's fault or more likely his handlers displaying vast amounts of caution, 'cos Alex can't punch & is wide open to straight shots.

Do you see anything but a Wlad mid to late KO/TKO?

boring fight.

chambers isn't a puncher.

wlad will win a skills match every day of the week.

hopefully both haye and wlad come thru and we get the 2 of them together.

best fight to be made in the division by a long way. :box:

Admittedly, no, but I think Chambers will give it more of a go than say Thompson or Rahman, & if Williamson (also a sub sixteen stone heavy) can sit Wlad on his arse with one shot I don't see why Chambers can't with that quick inside left hook counter of his.

It's a case of how bare the division is at the moment. Chambers won't beat Wlad but it doesn't mean he isn't one of the best heavyweights out there, as Datsue said, he beat up Dimitrenko and imo is a better fighter now than the one who closely lost to Povetkin (although maybe exposed him).

The Klitschko's are clearing out America at the moment, Arreola, Johnson, Thompson, these are the best fighters the States have to offer and none of them have come close. Hopefully the likes of Haye, Adamek and Povetkin can provide us with at least some competition for the boring brothers. Who knows, maybe Solis can lose 50 pounds and become a contender?

Heavyweight isnt a great division I think it will be another typical Klitschko fight, Wlad working behind his jab Chambers not getting inside and getting slowly but surely pummelled and getting stopped late imo
