I have just heard than Ernie Smith has died, It is at the moment un-comfirmed but if he has RIP. Him and his brother are credit to British Boxing xxx

Sad news if true my bro fought him although Ernie fought everyone from Lightweights to Light Middles

If it's unconfirmed I ain't sure it should be up on a forum? Not a great way for people to first hear who know him personally.
RIP if true, a rare thing being a journeyman who always gave it a go and really tested the prospect.

Shocking news. A genuine hard case. In 2005 he boxed Kell Brook (twice), Nathan Cleverley, Darren Barker and Anthony Small... amongst others. RIP Gypsy Boy.

This is sadder than a boxing great dying. I really liked Ernie, and my thoughts go out to his twin brother Billy.

RIP - him and his brother always gave fighters a good go and were often hard done by by the judges.

I didn't know him personally, unlike many on here but I am stunned by this news.
