Silver Gloves Regional Champs Crowned

Michigan boxers recently competed at the regional level in the Silver Gloves Championships held in Ashland, Kentucky.

Of the 21 Michigan winners:
14 were males
10 were contested
4 were uncontested
7 were females
All were uncontested

Twenty-one regional champions from Michigan were crowned during the three-day tournament held January 16-18. The fourteen male athletes will advance to the nationals to be held February 3-6 in Independence, Missouri.

Michigan won the team award by just two points (148) over Ohio (146), followed by Pennsylvania (68), Indiana (33) and Kentucky (18).
