This has nothing to do with his performance, but just two things that made me a little concerned.
Hatton's appearance in the pre-fight interview, that was the most gaunt looking I have ever seen him. Also since the Phillips fight there seems to be some 'restructuring' to his nose. His nose was never as bent after his last paid performance. I wonder whether his sparring is getting a little too hard recently.
Secondly, again Micky Vann was the third Man in the ring. This is getting ridiculous now. I'm not saying anything corrupt is going on, but Micky knows Hatton a bit too well now did you notice how many times he was shouting "watch the head". I know its his job, but its also one of Hattons main weakness (cuts) - he was focusing on the heads clashing a little bit much. Also, I can't believe he gave Rioz a telling off for holding when Hatton pushed him to the canvas. I know he gave Hatton a warning, but it left me with the overall impression that he knew what Hatton does best and didn't appreciate that Rios was doing a good job in spoiling Hatton.
I am a fim believer that Ref's should study their fighters and take their ability into account when making compasionate stoppages (i.e. if a fighter is winning clearly the rounds in a competitive fight against a non-puncher then really - for the sake of the non-punchers health that fight should be stopped, that guy (Garcia) who unfortunately died as a result of injuries sustained by Gabe Reulas would still be around if the ref had taken into account the fact that he had no chance of a victory).
However, I think this Vann/Hatton buisness is taking it to extreme.
Two things I noticed about Hatton.
yes i tottaly agree that was mickey van 9 hatton fight in 11, that was silly,
i also notice the atmosphere wasnt that good like last few fights, maybe cause farnell wasnt there
,
whos hatton gonna fight in december and why does warren needs showtimes money to make hatton witter, he only thinking about the money,

Don't get me wrong I'd love to see Hatton vs Witter, but I would rather it a defence (from one or both) of a world title. Obviously its a big ask, with the awesome Tszyu and Gatti still on the scene.REAL_DEAL wrote:yes i tottaly agree that was mickey van 9 hatton fight in 11, that was silly,

If Hatton is successful then it would be an awesome title defence, even if Hatton fails then its still a major fight to fall back on in the UK.
In my opinion Hatton vs Witter has the potential to be a major domestic affair - but I think a geniune world belt would be the icing.
I remember in the old glory days of the Super Bantam in the mid/late 90's when we had Oliver, Brodie and Mullings - 3 awesome fighters, Maloney was going to make Oliver vs Mullings 2 but only for a major title. With two talents like Hatton and Witter I think they should do the same.
If either lose in a World title fight, this will sell well in the UK - at this moment in time its only going to sell well in the UK now. The only reason the fight won't do so well over here is if either get upset.
The situation with the light middles/Welterweights is different is because some of those guys don't look world class. Solid domestic fighters but no more. So they should get it on now, but Hatton vs Witter has the potential to be an event, as does Brodie vs Harrison.
