Great list as always. And some controversy...as always :D .

51 kg:
Louie Byrd won the WC Petrolium Countries Cup...should merit a top 10 spot.

54 kg:
Yankiel Leon is an olympic silver medalist, world championships bronze medalist and pan am championships gold medalist (at 60 kg). What have Magdaleno done internationally to be rated higher?

57 kg:
Luis Porozo ECU and Hector Manzanilla VEN have been overlooked. Porozo won two bouts at the Worlds.
Oscar Valdes finished the year strong with a bronze at the Worlds and gold at the President´s Cup. Surely he should be No 1?

69 kg
Brian Castano ARG has been left out?????? He should be in the top 3 probably. He had a great show at the Worlds winning two bouts and giving Jack Robert Culkay a decent fight. Castano is by far Argentinas brightest prospect and has pre-signed for the WSB (but his weight category isn´t even competing...and he´s way too small for 73 kg).

Castano will have to move and box in a lower or higher weight class for the WSB. He could just maintain his weight and box against bigger guys in the higher weight class. Either that or he will be gaining or losing weight to compete in the WSB's league at least for that part of the year. He could then go back to his current weight class for domestic and international amateur competitions.

I think AIBA have messed up completely with the weight classes for the WSB. If a boxer fights at 75 kg he normally weighs a few kilos over the weight limit...that boxer now has to starve himself to make 73 kg...or give away a huge weight disadvantage and fight at 85 kg :o . The same goes for the 69 kg boxer and so on...

Yes, I agree, that the weight classes for the WSB aren't ideal. It is supposed to help boxers by enabling them to box professionally and still be eligible for the Olympics. However, with the weight classes not matching up, the boxers may hurt themselves by moving up or down for the WSB and then trying to readjust to their amateur weight class for amateur competitions. The 91kg boxers have the same problem - move up to 91+kg or down to 85kg for the WSB. I'm guessing that the WSB figured that most boxers would drop a few Kilos by having the weigh-ins the day before the competition instead of the morning of the competition for the amateurs.

These Pan Am rankings could be more accurate if most of the countries would just compete in the Americas Federation Championships. USA did not and probably won't again. Other federations don't either. It is usually due to financial reasons.
