Bellew Vs McKenzie

Post by teddy007 »

This has the makings of very tasty fight. Both have got big punches, McKenzie is the more experienced and Bellew is un-tested but delivers what appears to be devastating power. I think Arnie would work out an excellent game plan and lets be honest every fighter he trains are very fit. This a very good fight on paper and just what Bellew needs. I think it will be a tough and good learning fight whilst it lasts and would expect Bellew to stop McKenzie around the 7th. Opinions?

Well it seems the fight will go ahead in March and as we are lead to believe no one wants to fight Bellew apart from McKenzie, so it must happen. Warren cannot swerve this fight it will be good for Bellew. I believe it would win Bellew a lot of respect if this fight gets made and he wins convincingly, there is no other fight that makes sense at the moment.

Much respect to Tony if this fight comes off..... McKenzie for me is one of the most forgotton championship level fighters we have. He got brushed aside by Francis and then seems to be completely out of the reckoning, not even one of the more high profile Prizefighter wins got him a title fight.

This fight would have come very early in Tony's career, but he looks the goods to me so far.

McKenzie has only lost 1 by KO, so his chin is pretty good. Bellew is a puncher, but has skills as well. He'd be better off using them in the early going and let McKenzie run out of ideas, as he has done in the past.

Frank Maloney said in the post interview that Ovill will be fighting on 23rd April on the Munroe undercard - not against Tony B.

Sky didn't televise the interview because they wanted to show the full Hammond / Conception fight, with the verdict being a bit contentious. Frank didn't say who will be next for Ovill but was adamant it wouldn't be Tony. Tony was there but I didn't get a chance to speak to him, he made a throat slit gesture after Ovill had won and obviously fancies the fight. I think Ovill is soon eligible to fight for the British title too. Maybe Frank wants to work towards a fight with Nathan Cleverly.

I new I did not see the interview. Ovill deserves some success was very good in prizefighter. Hammond won that fight. Hod did Mutley and Johansson perform?

I didn't see the Mutley fight because it was after we went off air at midnight and I was on the way home but he won, third round k.o. I think. I watched Fewkes v Haywood and must be honest and say I think John won it, the ref gave a draw. It was a cracking bout that went on late, great sportsmanship between them, which was a feature all night. Thought Booth and Marsh plus Hammond and Conception were a credit to the sport after their fights.

Carl dominated and won on points against Al Hamidi. His jab worked well but he was a little heavy and felt his timing was off. Sounded refreshed and glad to be back, he's become a dad during the break of nearly two years. Gary Sykes won on points and is waiting for a Board meeting this week to see if Burns will vacate the British title and he'll get a shot at the vacant title.

The Smith family were all out to support Paul Edwards who stepped up a level to beat Andy Bell. Curtis Valentine looked strong but a bit crude, apparently Shane McGuigan beat him in the amateurs.

Edwards beat Bell? Fantastic result, he's defo one to watch especially with the lack of depth in that weight.

How did he look?

Great learning fight for him. I think it was his 6th pro fight and he asked for the test. It might have suited Bell more over the longer championship distance but in fairness Edwards is a fly and Bell at least a super-fly.

Makes me laugh when I ask the boxers if they want their DVDs of their fights, and they say, 'nah me mates taped it off sky'!! then they get home, and its not shown!! haha, poor sods, now they have to send off to me, maybe I am getting old and miserable!!, but most boxers want copys of their fights after, but think, ahh I will get it get free later on tv!, and they never do, gutted!!! 11 fights last night great action, lovely filming position, sky only showed 3 fights.. undercard will be up on Maloneypromotions website this week.
