my first boxing event....loved it!!!
attended the "night of champions" at wembley arena last night and loved every second of it, but i must say despite there not being alot of them there the welsh fans was so vocal and loud for the clev fight that it made for an electrifying atmosphere, was disappointed with some of the english crowd chanting things such as "sheep shaggers" and "stick your dragon up your ass" but was probably just abit of friendly banter, watching live you see how hard heavyweights actually hit some of the shots chisora hit baker with you could hear the thud all around the arena, anyway heres some vids from my cam phone its not good quality but just shows and example of the great atmosphere that night....enjoy

my advice:
avoid Warren bills unless you simply love the olympians (its a moral stance)
avoid the xcel
def watch boxing at the York Hall Bethnal Green
and def watch light heavy/ cruiser/ and heavyweight Prizefighter comps !!!

Re: my first boxing event....loved it!!!
well if Audley goes into his shell it'll be a huge nay...its very risky with Auds...hes the bugner of the 21st century.
i mainly like the Heavies but i also want a decent undercard ...thats why prizefighter has been so good....its a full night of entertainment from start to finish ... no padding.....

I second Funso's advice on York Hall. I really like it there. Great atmosphere, great view.Jesus wrote:thanks for the advice....i just bought tickets for the audley harrison euro title fight in april...is that yay or nay?funso banjo baby wrote:my advice:

Re: my first boxing event....loved it!!!
My first show was at Manor Place Baths in Walworth, round 1977. Mick Minter topped the bill, brother of Alan. There as a really tough Italian brawler on the card, Salvo Nucifero. He made it to the big venues.
Re: my first boxing event....loved it!!!
my first show was derry mathews v john simpson at the olympia in liverpool, great atmoshere i was hooked then nothing better than a night at the boxing
Re: my first boxing event....loved it!!!
I was there. I remember Robert Smith calling the place a "dump" but you could park on wasteground across the road for free and, inside, there wasn't a bad seat in the house. Oh man, Kotelnik was robbed!diggler wrote:my first show was derry mathews v john simpson at the olympia in liverpool, great atmoshere i was hooked then nothing better than a night at the boxing
Re: my first boxing event....loved it!!!

Re: my first boxing event....loved it!!!
Yes, it was a brilliant show - no frills, no delays between fights - just great action. I DO remember something which jarred as I made my way across the road into the venue. Slung across the top of it were huge bill-posters of forthcoming events, one of which was a UFC event featuring former boxer Andreas Panayi, a Cypriot tough-guy.diggler wrote:yeah couldnt believe it when they called it a draw, was a great show

I found that sad.
