Re: Max Baer-vrs- Lou Nova(1939)
One of my favorite fights, a brutal back and forth war. Baer showed he was more than just a playboy and could be a tough, mean SOB.
Nova's stamina and conditioning were phenomenal.

Max Baer vrs Lou Nova
June.1.1939 Yankee Stadium.
That was the first prizefight televised by NBC.
(about a week after the first televised live baseball game)
It wasnt recorded on the kinescope because the kinescope was still in the experimental phase in 1939
and it would have required too many lights
to record it .

Tony Galento-vrs-Lou Nova
(Sept.15.1939)
Reportly one of the most foul -filled,brutal,savage heavyweight fights known.
Anyone know if that fight was filmed?

Joe Louis-vrs-Lou Nova.
The Polo Grounds ,NYC
Sept.29.1941.
Nova came into that fight with a 26-2-4 record.
(the two losses were a pts loss to Max Rosenbloom and ko'd by Galento)
was this fight filmed?
If not ,why not?

Nova-Louis was definitely filmed; HBO has shown the KO shot before in their docs on Louis.
Unfortunately it seems like Jacobs or whoever has it has kept it under wraps, thus it's not in the general Louis collection of fights available through traders.

The KO shot is shown both in their Boxing's Best doc on Louis that was done in the 80s and I believe (although my memory's hazy) the newer one that came out a few years back. It's shown as part of a series of Louis KOs but the opponents are not named. As for the exact minute slot I have no idea, I'm sure they are both on Youtube somewhere.
Re: Max Baer-vrs- Lou Nova(1939)
There always seems to be in every show about Joe Louis, right after he becomes champion.a montage of his knock outs.
There usually shown out of order and even knock downs and knock outs before he became champion.
I always have trouble trying to figure out who he is knocking down and knocking out(they even show knock downs
out of order and in between other fighters being knocked down.
I wish they would start putting the fighters mane beneath each knock down, esp the"Bums-of-the month".
