Who Would Win?

I find it hard to see a case for Marciano in this one. Rocky is perhaps a little more durable than Frazier, but he never had to withstand the kind of attack than Foreman dealt out on his opponents. I say Foreman by TKO, around the 5th round. Marciano has a slim chance if he can take the fight into the late rounds.

Have to see this as an inside the distance win for Big George, all depends on if Marciano can get inside Foreman's reach, stick his head on his chest and pound away, if so with his engine, heart and punch he's always got a chance but I would fancy that he'll get shelled on the way in.

Marciano way too small to stand upto Foremans power. It will be a massacre in my opinion. Marciano only knew one way to fight and that was to stand toe to toe and he tended to wear fighters down, not a great one punch finisher that many think he was (Walcott aside). He wouldn't have the chance to wear Foreman down, Foreman would batter him in under 3 rounds.

marciano was not afraid to stand in there and trade blows
with anyone
but with aguy as big and strong as foreman....well i think
marciano would not only get ktfo but could of got permanently hurt

Foreman KO2
Foreman KO3

Etc...

Very bad match up for Marciano.

..marciano was physically stronger than probably every one he fought, and that was his main asset. he wouldn't have that advantage over george. foreman by a kayo, probably with a right uppercut. rocky might get up a few times though. well....maybe one time.

A little more durable than Frazier?

Puhleeeeeeeez.

I'd like to see Marciano taking the shots Frazier did in Jamaica and getting back up 6 times and on his feet at the end.

As usual with Mythicals, we have two or three who vote for the guy who would never win, but don't have the courage to reveal themselves

Agreed, that fight would still be going on today if the ref hadn't stopped it, same with the fight in Manilla if Eddie had not stepped in. NO QUIT in this guy. Though he was first class pro and listened to the ref and Eddie and abides their calls. Talk about a guy who could take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. I don't think Archie could have knocked him down (though that would be a great fight!), and Ezz might fight competitively with him, I don't see him getting Joe in the kind of trouble he got Rocky into.

I hope that's hyperbole. He would have literally have gotten knocked out cold or perhaps killed if the ref didn't stop the fight.

I have seen people argue he would outwork Foreman.

I would like to know how he lasts long enough to outwork him; especially with Foreman's habit of just shoving around smaller opponents.

I think that arguement is largely being made from the heart and not the head.

Foreman would brutalize Marciano. It might get frightening.

My point is that those guys probably saved his life. Frazier would not stop, he might die, but he wouldn't quit.

i firmly beleive either the 25 year old foreman or the 42 year old foreman would have crushed marciano the older foreman may have done worse damage as his defence and size was so much more. I could see it being like the jimmy ellis fight of 1991 the first fight after the holyfield rumble.

George looked zen like in that, like some unemotional master of kung fu fighting 10 foes

How can you possible compare Rocky Marciano to an inexperienced guy like Jimmy Ellis - who only had one opponent prior to Foreman who had ever posted a winning record?

But you would agree it' s the worst of all match ups for Marciano.

He said it might look like that fight --- not that Marciano resembled Ellis.

Young George would have been to much of an animal, and old George would have been just too much. Size and power would be two of the main aspects to this victory and all through his career George had both in spades.

Since Marciano overcame every style he faced as a professional, it hard to say what would be the "worst of all match-ups for Marciano."

Wasn't being rude, & perhaps you interpreted right, for all I know. Just saying this much --- going by what he said, regardless of what he may've meant, he didn't compare Marciano to Ellis.
