Howard Foster jnr
just want to give some kudos where they are due.
Howard Foster is one of the fairest and mot able refs in this country.I took one of my fighters up to sheffield yesterday and hes not the luckiest of lads on the road.Seeing mr Foster in the ring itold him to make a big effort today as he has got a very good fair ref.
Hearing this max put it in as hard as he could and it was a tough close fight, the away fighter got a close decision which made a nice change.
Also two other away fighters got decisions which made for a cracking show and made it very exciting for the crowd as they knew there guys realy had to win.
Iv put this because im the first to moan when a ref has a mare so i think its only fair you give someone plaudits when he performs a difficult job so well.

glad to hear Max got given the win for a change, Jon, nice one
Re: Howard Foster jnr
Most of Howard's scorecards tally with mine exactly. Therefore, as a judge, he must know what he's on about.
He's also an excellent ref - Howard and Richie Davies are the best of British and I'd stand the pair up with any ref in the world.
I have to say though, I'd love to take scoring out of refs' hands whenever possible. They've got enough to do handling the contest itself. A recent example I'll give is Big Terry in Fury-McDermott. I think it's generally acknowledged that his scorecard was a mile out but his handling of the contest itself was excellent.
I know the Board have rectified this re English titles but having other refs/Inspectors helping to score from outside the ring should be the norm.
Howard is a top lad outside the ropes too.

He beat lee edwards whoed had 11 won ten so was a good win.Won his last two and drew with prince Arron hes becoming a bit of a handful on the road.
Re: Howard Foster jnr
Iv had this chat with a few refs and to me there job is to ensure safety to the fighters first if they are doing this in a tough cloe fight how the hell are they meant to keep a close eye on the exact scoring of a fight.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:Most of Howard's scorecards tally with mine exactly. Its like asking the doctor to keep a score wile hes studying a guy for any signs that something is wrong.
I know the arguement that it costs us small promoters more but what about the option of having the other ref whos usualy there to score from outside and concentrate on that and the guy inside does the safety stuff.
Its hard enough to score a fight with the crowd going on and angles being blocked to see punches without having to worry bout the welfare of two tired men who could potentialy kill each other at any second.

Re: Howard Foster jnr
yep totally agree john always rated howard as one of the best refs we have and i cant remember off the top of my head ever disagreeing with a scorecard he might have had
Re: Howard Foster jnr
Howard Foster's a brilliant ref and a thoroughly nice guy. Never shirks a tough decision.
Needs to work on some new patter though, "You know what I expect," . "Sort it out lads, don't hold, don't hold".

The Doncaster decision maker introduced a new one yesterday to Lee Edwards who was giving a bit of verbals:Ben Carey wrote:Howard Foster's a brilliant ref and a thoroughly nice guy. Never shirks a tough decision.

Nice to see Maxwell get the result, from all accounts he's had some poor luck (still lost to Kenney though imo
)
Agree about Howard Foster great referee, and good call Jon

Re: Howard Foster jnr
Got to agree he's a good ref, I was in Sheffield when he threw mathew Hatton out. It was funny cos I had just said to a mate he wont throw him out now its the last round but he did. He wasnt the most popular man there that night but we liked it
Re: Howard Foster jnr
Rob Kenney i thought max had done enuf but never complained or realy made a fuss cuz we could see that it was a cae of opinions and that it was close.saturday_kid wrote:Nice to see Maxwell get the result, from all accounts he's had some poor luck (still lost to Kenney though imo)

Lol if youd have seen the couple of fights in scotland(where it will take a lot for gym to go back) and the concepion fight youd have been shaking yr head they realy were that bad.
Saying that max admitted he thought that Darren Gethins fight with him was a draw and that hed give darren a rematch as he knows how he feels.
Some good fights in the midlands amongst the lightmiddles and welters i wonder if thee lads would fancya low budget none tv prizefighter?

Yeah mate, wasn't having a pop or anything bout the Kenney result and know none of the team complained or antyhing, just i'm sure I remember some on here (or maybe another forum disputing the result), I can definitely see where your coming from in that fight, I thought Maxwell looked the more dangerous but from what I remember I'd say Kenney nicked it with his jab, as you say though its about opinions.jonp wrote:Rob Kenney i thought max had done enuf but never complained or realy made a fuss cuz we could see that it was a cae of opinions and that it was close.saturday_kid wrote:Nice to see Maxwell get the result, from all accounts he's had some poor luck (still lost to Kenney though imo)

As for Scotland have heard about some of the robberies your lads have had up there, and as for Maxwell Concepcion, mate of mine was at the fight and he gave it Maxwell by 2 rounds I think. Fair play to him regarding the Gethin fight though, shows some class that. You gonna have him on at home next or back out on the road? As you say he seems to be doing pretty well away, turning into a bit of a spoiler.
The small hall prizefighter idea is a good idea I feel, especially round the Midlands at that weight at the minute. What do you reckon the chances of getting it together? I feel it would definitely pull in a few more 'casual fans' to the shows.
All the best anyways

Yeh Rob boxed out of his skin that night i think that was his world title to be fair.I like Rob and seeing him sitting with his lad afterwards with the belt and a big bruise and smile on his face almost made our guy losing worth it lolsaturday_kid wrote:Yeah mate, wasn't having a pop or anything bout the Kenney result and know none of the team complained or antyhing, just i'm sure I remember some on here (or maybe another forum disputing the result), I can definitely see where your coming from in that fight, I thought Maxwell looked the more dangerous but from what I remember I'd say Kenney nicked it with his jab, as you say though its about opinions.jonp wrote:Rob Kenney i thought max had done enuf but never complained or realy made a fuss cuz we could see that it was a cae of opinions and that it was close.saturday_kid wrote:Nice to see Maxwell get the result, from all accounts he's had some poor luck (still lost to Kenney though imo)

Its been chatted about i think it could be done regarding the local PF id like to have a crack at it just have to make sure it works on maller format.
I will get Max the odd home fight but hes a much better fighter away as he dont feel the pressure.
