Another idea to get Boxing back on free to view telly

Its a good idea but to be honest, I dont think any of the terrestrial channels are interested anymore. it dosnt matter what we do, they all seem adamant that nobody wants to watch boxing any more.
Its a shame like because we pay our tv licenses and get treated to ski sunday, just one example.

Lol not a problem. It just seems to me that no matter how hard we try, we just seem to get knocked back. its not that we have given up, but we are basically fighting a loosing battle. Plus its not just us fans missing out, look at john murray, not got his euro challenge any more. its pathetic. (rant over)

i dont see any reason why they cant try it on maybe a 3 shows contract to see how it goes and then maybe up it to 12 months as an extended trial .
Would also mean they in theory would be good shows as the promotors would be keen to impress , personally i think c5 would be the best one to approach with an idea of this sort.

Thats an interesting concept, though i have no idea how plausible it actually is. One way or another, it would probably end up with one party feeling like they could get more money under a different type of agreement, or altogether elsewhere.

Food for thought though, if Arum's considering it in the US, hopefully our promoters are giving it some thought also.

At the end of the day, it's all about good match ups between good boxers, in my opnion.

not "starlets" like Harrison, De Gale, Fury etc.

That said, if another "Hatton" or "Bruno" or "Hamed" happened to come along, then that might help. 8)

But they seem to do fine on sky, pay per view. I guess thats always going to be where the biggest names go.

But lower level boxing, if it was good and competative, could be good free TV I think. Prizefighter, for example, might be one thing that could make good "free tv."

i think sky will have Prizefighter tied up for a while but it would be that sort of think that would work really well on Free TV

Indeed- Any sort of show with an elimination element, and genuine competition, and a "winner" seems to sell well on TV . Look at trash like "Strictly Come dancing."

There already has been "The Conteder" of course, and I think back in 2004 they did an amateur boxing show where the final was North V South. That was cool.
