Holyfield vs Botha... are you buying? Who wins/

Post by rob12344 »

I will be watching berto vs Quintana. I think Holyfield will beat Botha though and he is 1/2 to win, which seems big since Botha drew with a poor fighter last time and looked 30 pounds overwight and also looked his age. Holyield beat Valuev last time her fought which was just over a year ago.

Don't forget how poor he has looked in all his fights bar Valuev, in the last few years.

I think it will be a poor fight between two old guys much like Jones vs Hopkins.

As we know that Holyfield will likely retire if he wins (he's said if he can regain a World title he will, hopefully he extends this to alphabet titles) I really hope he wins.

Holyfield can't afford to retire and no way he does anytime soon. He wins this fight by UD. And within a few years he will start having trouble remembering his own name.

I think Holyfield should win a decision. Botha is just another old shot fighter like Holyfield, only thing is that he was never at Evander's level and won't be at any age.

He didn't look poor in his preceding fights, save for Ibragimov. Allowing for the limited nature of the opposition, Holyfield looked decent against Bates, Maddalone and Savarese. Against Oquendo, not so good, but that was a tricky fight and, for me, an upset that Holyfield won it.

As for retiring after winning a title... first of all, I don't think he views the WBF any more seriously than any of us do. Secondly, even if he does, his actual line is that he won't retire until he regains the undisputed championship.

I wouldn't watch this if Primetime were paying me too watch it. Dreadful fight. I wouldn't pay for this if they were both in their primes (if Botha had one that is).

I reckon this fight will be better than Jones Jr-Hopkins.

I know I shouldn't want to watch this fight, but I do. I'll probably stream it, then Sky+ the Berto card and the ESPN card to watch the next day.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but I've got a bad feeling Holyfield wins a unanimous decision in an awful fight. At least it probably won't be worse than RJJ v Hopkins.

I really want primetime to do well and fill the void that setanta left but the super 6 aside their choice of fights has been abysmal.

Is this Primetimes attempt to rival Sky's coverage of Berto-Quintana on the same night? :witzend:

Why couldn't they wait a week and show Pavlik-Martinez! Now that would be worth a few quid to watch.

Though i can't use the phrase 'Botha ahs youth on his side'... he is still 6 years younger than Evander.
I've seen Holyfields decline... but havent seen Botha fight recently.

Probably predict Evander by UD, though a botha win wouldnt out and out surprise me

I think form is always a better gauge than statistical age. Therefore you'd have to make Holyfield a big favourite, considering his last fight was a close and disputed points to loss to a world titleholder, while Botha was held to a draw by Pedro Carrion, and was considered fortunate to do so.

But saying that, what is Holyfield, 47? And at that age, anything could have happened in the 16 months since he last fought.
