Re: GARY WOOLCOMBE RETIRES
Was this due to his hand injuries?

Why question something by you? God forbid, when you seem to be stalking most boxers.
Having just read a preview of the fight in today's Boxing News, it seemed a surprising thing to hear.
Also, if he has only just pulled out of the fight, has a hand injury and is just 27, it would seem to be a knee-jerk reaction after a long training camp, rather than a long thought-out decision to end his career. So I would question whether that decision was ready for broadcast rather than just his present frustration is another thing.
How many boxers have you heard say "I'm quitting" straight after a loss or an injury, only to change their mind two months later? Maybe he won't thank you for telling everyone.

Re: GARY WOOLCOMBE RETIRES
Gary's a nice guy
He had decided to retire once before (last year) so I am not altogether surprised given the turn of events this week.

A question may be either a linguistic expression used to make a request for information, or else the request itself made by such an expression. This information is provided with an answer.ERIC GUY wrote:How can it be a good question when I have titled the thread 'GARY WOOLCOMBE RETIRES' when thats the statement and answer all in 1.Old bones Ian wrote:have a day off Eric, it was a perfectly good questionERIC GUY wrote: I assume you did not understand the threads leading message........he has retired!!!, why question it..

All the best Gary,
I only saw him fight once live, when he lost to Facey, but he was well up for the scrap.
Re: GARY WOOLCOMBE RETIRES
surely he wouldnt retire just because of a hand injury? probably didnt feel up to it and didnt have anything in him to do 12 rounds especially.

Re: GARY WOOLCOMBE RETIRES
yeah i was just guessing about the hands, but if he has a serious injury there, they are the tools of his trade, so boxing would be out of the question.
Re: GARY WOOLCOMBE RETIRES
gary has a cracking engine & is fearless, he loves his boxing & is very young still.ive got a sneakin suspicion what it is now & will wait to read in the boxing news.iwz678 wrote:surely he wouldnt retire just because of a hand injury? probably didnt feel up to it and didnt have anything in him to do 12 rounds especially.
