"he cant handle your speed son"

Post by boxerbob »

that will be the words again by freddie roach if mayweather fights pacman next

why??????

i think pacman has everything needed to beat floyd mayweather.

i compare mayweather to the great pernell whitaker , both were great defensive fighters , both have great jabs , speed , footwork but not alot of power......but the difference between them is whitakers workrate and southpaw stance.

if whitaker and mayweather were matched in a time machine , i think whitaker would win due to his workrate.

take nothing away from mayweather last night , he answered 2 big questions , he took 2 massive punched and had the speed of thought to hold on , then he fought aggessively to pound out a wide win.

so why do i think pacman will beat mayweather????

see my comparison between mayweather and whitaker.....pacman has speed and workrate , he has fast feet and the thing that whitaker didnt have power.

i still feel that mayweather wont be able to match pacmans intense workrate , mayweather like to pot shot you , 1 or 2 punch combinations.....pacman throws 4-5 punch combos

mayweather cant sit on the ropes vs pacman becase unlike any other fighter he has faced , pacman will throw those 4-5 punch combinations instead of the 1-2 punches of the other fighters.

workrate and speed is the key here , both guys can get hurt as last night proved but again its only my personal opinion that i think manny will win

manny will be able to walk right up to maywetaher , yes he will be caught coming in but so will mayweather , he just wont like how many punches manny will throw at him

styles make fights - manny has the tools and i think he will do it

ps: last night convinced me of this

manny wpts 12....116-112

You have to able to land punches, it's not just about how many you throw..........

Mayweather neutralised Mosley last night, he took away his offense, his weapons and to such a degree that Mosley was either afraid to punch or couldn't set himself properly. That is what Mayweather is so good at, he takes away a fighters A game and like Mosley, Pacquaio will have no B game to revert to. Mayweather's clever ring positioning, his distance and stance, combined with his fast counter punching and pot shots makes it difficult for fighters to get into their natural grove. Once they get into position, Floyd switches stance or moves out of range, if they punch with any intention, he slips the shot, counters and moves back into a defensive stance.

Mosley was taken out of his natural game and in the end look static, because he couldn't find alternative angles to shoot from and so could only use the same old routine, which was getting him countered to death. The same will happen with Pacquaio. He is essentially a one dimesnsional fighter, who comes forward throwing clusters of punches at unorthadox angles, with speed, power and accuracy. This is the same style he uses for all of his fights regardless of who the opponent is and it has been successfull up to now, because no-one has been able to counter punch him effectively.

Fighters have either tried to fight fire with fire, ie, Hatton, Cotto et al, or just kept out of his way, ie, Clottey. Mayweather is the only fighter who has enough speed, guille and ringcraft to take away Pacquiao's A game and use it against him. Pacquaio will be swinging at shadows all night and any punches that do land, the majority will be deflected or taken on the arms and gloves of Mayweather. Mayweather is too defensively sound, too quick thinking and too fast a puncher for Pacquiao to be succesfull. Mayweather will counter and pot shot Pacquaio all night long and i see the fight ending in a decison win for Floyd

good post mate

you are right about mosley being afraid to throw more punches after the 2nd round , pacman wont though , he throws punches from all angles...alot more than mayweather....mosley can match pacmans workrate and mosley was blowing out of his arse after that 2nd round...pacaman thrwos more as the fight goes on....he get better and so does floyd lol

get the fight signed now lol

thats the reason i think pacman will win , speed of punch combinations and workrate

yes mayweather likes to pot shot and will defo hit manny but he will be put under so much pressure that it will need to make him up his own workrate

the fight has to happen - both are all time greats , the winner becomes the fighter of his generation

the best since whitaker or jones junr

he's so good up close.

the way he slips and slides and spoils his opponents.

and then he has the speed to pick u off at distance.

mosley was obviously troubled by floyd's shots cos he was so reluctant to take chances.

so was marquez.

your move pac. :OhYes:

The fight definately has to happen and let's hope that the commission can help on this one, regarding the drug testing issue......

Pacquaio will definately give more trouble to mayweather, perhaps more so than any fighter since De La Hoya. Mayweather has a tendancy to match the work rate of his opponent and you know aswell as i do that he will do as much as he thinks he has to do for a victory. I think that the more Pacquaio punches the more he misses and gets countered and that will have an effect on Pacquiao's confidence and stamina levels. Up to now, Pacquaio has been used to dictating the pace of a fight and moving forward relentlessly against weakening opponents who dont have the speed of movement of defensive skills to counter his hard punches. In other words nothing with any serious intent comes back from an opponent from the 7th round onwards and this is how Paqcquio eventually wears down his opponent and stops them.

Just think for a minute about the effect it will have on Pacquaio if he is counter-punched the way Mosley was for 7 or 8 rounds of the fight. That will take a lot out of him mentally and physically and will put him in territory that he is'nt used to. I know this is a different fighter, but look at Mike Tyson. The key to beating Tyson was distance and counter punching, which Lennox Lewis used so effectively and which was tried initially by Larry Holmes, who whilst unsuccessfull, had found the right strategy to beat Tyson. Tyson, like Pacquaio, was a fighter who liked to fight on the front foot and wasn't good when he was backed up and had to fight on the back foot. People had the made the mistake of allowing Tyson to dictate the fights and had'nt looked to neutralise his movement and power. The same applies to Pacquaio IMO

Of course, its just about opinions Bob

Your right about where do they go if the fight falls through !!!

Mosley is now tainted after that performance and so it would'nt be a good step for Pacquaio to fight him, it would just be another name on his record like De La Hoya. A Cotto re-match would not result in a different type of fight IMO and i don't think that Pacquaio can go up another weight division. All the other names for Pacquaio would be a step back, unless you think highly of an untried Berto.

Mayweather could fight Cotto, but that would be similar to Pacquaio fighting Mosley, he is now damged goods and Mayweather would get nothing out of that fight apart from another pay day. Floyd could move up to Light-Middle for an encounter with Williams, but he has alread marked that territory with his win over De La Hoya.

Maybe we will have to put up with mundane opponents if the fight can't happen, but ideally the commission should get involved and make sure the drugs testing issue is sorted, get the fight on and put a re-match clause in it, which i think would also be a good idea

the more punches manny throws the more of a beatin he will take..you throw a hundred punches at manny you will hit him 40 times, you throw a hundred at mayweather you will be lucky to hit him 10 times :TU:

I think comparing Floyd to Whittaker (someone who was never beaten convincingly) doesnt convince me, plus what they said above.

One thing that worries me with Pac is that he has this nasty habit that no one has punished yet. He does this thing where he throws a quick combo and then literally leaps to the side to open up a new angle. I can just see Mayweather sucking him in and making him leap onto a counter punch.

It would be a tough one to call. I'm not someone who thinks Pac id one dimensional. I think that he used to be but I also think that Freddy Roach has gradually brought more and more elements into his game to make him a more complete fighter, and now he is the only man alive that can rival Mayweather.

My post from another thread, which is more fitting for this one.

As impressive as Floyd may have looked against Sugar Shane, I thought this was mainly due to the latter gassing after his second round blow out.

It was in that second round that we saw Floyd rocked, which has made me think Pacquiao has a great chance.

Will Pacman get to Mayweather like SSM? I believe so.
Will Pacquiao start blowing out of his arse after two rounds? No, no chance.

PBF responded well to being staggered, but I really believe the current Pacquiao will be a lot less remorseful than the 38 year old, rusty Mosley.
