Sonny didn't look real interested to me.

As one would expect for an exhibition.

That was a 4-round exhibition on the Joey Giardello-Jesse Smith card at the International Amphitheatre in Chicago,
November-6-1961.
Using headgear and 16 oz. gloves, reportly Liston "looked slow and unimpressive" and didnt even break a sweat during it and was soundly booed by the crowd.

Yep, Sonny seems to be simply going through the motions here. I guess he didn't want to be pitted as a bigger bully by the press than he'd already been painted as.

Terrell is one of the few heavyweights that I think actually should have PUT ON weight. When he first started fighting top 10 opponents he was only weighing in the 190s/low 200s. At 6'6 he looked like a bean pole.

To me he looked much better at 212 vs Ali, and I'm sure he looked good in the 220s as he weighed late in his career.

Interesting, thanks for posting Robinson.

You obviously never see exhibitions like this today, anyone know why they died out?

My guess would be it was a lot harder to get to see the top guys in the days of close circuit broadcasts etc, so people would take any chance they got.

I think exhibitions died out slowly.
Holmes and Cooney did exhibitions(at least one each,Cooney with Walter Santemore)before their fight in 1982.
Cooney did an exhibition with Boone Kirkman not too long after the Holmes fight.
I think Cooney and Foreman fought an exhibition fight each(against different opponent)before their fight too.
Last one I remember was Mike Tyson and Corey T.Rex Sanders a few years ago.
That was on pay per view.

Nice work kym! and as far as exhibitions go, the last one i ever seen publicized was shaq vs de la hoya. that was a farce though.
