Alex Leapai VS Sam Sexton
Alex Leapai VS Sam Sexton
I see that Team Leapai is in negotiation with Team Sexton for the Commonwealth Heavyweight title great step up from alex but it's going to be a hell of a fight both can bang but who can bring it home.Australian i know has a poor record going to uk for comm title fights only a hand full are successful and the down side is you get the british ref and all 3 or 4 judges aswell plus the fans makes it very hard to win, i guess the best way for alex is to knock him out or bring it to Australia.good luck alex

Bobby Dunlop, Tony Mundine, Charkey Ramon, Henry Nissen, Big Jim West, Lester Ellis, Jeff Malcolm, Johnny Famechon, Lionel Rose, Jimmy Carruthers, Hector Thompson, Guy Waters, "Baby Cassius" Austin, Dave Sands, Bobby Dunne, Billy Moeller; I am sure other posters could think of many more.
Recently there are more prestigious titles closer to home.

Sam Sexton has got some nice straights, an excellent jab,
i can see an overhand right landing home for Leapai,
But i can also see Leapai eating alot of those straight punches,
Leapai should start strong and aggressive like the fight with Big Bob,
imho Leapai is only exciting when he looks to go in for the kill,

agree his overhangs known as his trademark can do some damage only if he follows up to the body then back up exactly what he did to mirovic in the 1st 20 seconds if he can fight with that aggression and work on his jabs, fitness, speed things should be looking good for him.harshfriller wrote:Sam Sexton has got some nice straights, an excellent jab,

noels doing a great job just slowly making his way up
Re: Alex Leapai VS Sam Sexton
Sam is a mobile and skillful heavyweight. He is built like a tank and takes his conditioning very seriously, I am friends with Jon Thaxton (former Lightweight Euro Champion) who used to be his mentor and stablemate and his always held Sam in very high regard and thought he would be challenging for major championships in 5 years, that was in 2006.
Having seen 3 Leapai fights, and having seen Sam fight and spar in the UK regularly I have no doubt that Sam will take this with a KO in the early rounds. Sam will keep Alex at range all night and pick him off jabs and striaght rights to kill him off.
But I applaud Alex for stepping up and testing himself, it won't be easy but professional boxing is'nt meant to be, it tough business.

Ooooh - thats a nice fight style wise. Leapai has a good chance to win this in my opinon - it would be great to see the Commonwealth heavyweight title in Australia.
Re: Alex Leapai VS Sam Sexton
Sexton has only had 14 fights. Of them 2 were 12 rounders and 1 was a 10 rounder.
Not much to go on.
Have any of the sneerers noticed the bloke he beat for the commonwealth title is a cab driver?

Re: Alex Leapai VS Sam Sexton
Alex has got to fight a couple of movers as well like Justin Whitehead or Soloman Haumono not sparring sessons, to prepare for the high level overseas fighters because none of them stay in front of you ,it doesn't matter how tough you are, you'll never win a decision there if you don't hunt them down and be successful doing it.
But I like Alex and he brings excitement to the Heavyweight Division and keep up the combos Alex they are just what the doctor ordered.

This rainbow belt seems to fit better around an Englishman's waist...
