Not at all,it was Tibbs and Mitchell who brought it up.You cant blame Fwank, after putting this show together,he hears Mitchell hasnt trained as hard as he did for Presscott. He paid a lot for this fight,it was the least he could have expected to have Mitchell 110%

Why ?
You no doubt saw how much it cost Wazza to get Michael over here - then he finds out his own man isn't training / living right ?
I think Wazza's got every right to have a pop.
After all Mitchell isn't denying it, is he ?

we all have off days and obviously its hard to say to Mitchell 'sort your marriage out before you sign up for a fight' but if your personal life affects ur job - and ur job can get u killed - then there needs to be stability there

Completely agree 26.

Sure Kevin was honest about the reasons why. But hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I hope this teaches Kevin a lesson and he comes back better.

I think also once the fight is signed Mitchell has to go through with it regardless of his personal problems. There is a good chance that if the opportunity is missed then it could be a while before he gets the opportunity again.
But as you say hardly ideal preparation for the biggest fight of his career.

Spot on I was there, It was the first Frank had heard and he was very annoyed and still is... I really like Kevin I think he's a top lad and a brilliant fighter but he should have known better than to prepare for only 5 weeks, The amount of time and effort that went into last night was crazy and Tibbs was also an angry man, He gave Kevin a dressing down in front of the whole media and said he needs to follow Katsidis's approach on how to prepare for a fight..

sounds like excuses to me think mitchell just found his level tonight katidas is a very dangerous fighter and felt he was in control from the start in hindsight think the prescott fight flattered mitchell there is always some excuse coming from fighters nowadays think its damage limitation on there part understand things go wrong in preparation but saying having rows with his family hampered training is pretty poor understand if it was an injury or what not. Cant see mitchell breaking into real world class but not the end of the world still a good fighter and a good career in which he can take a few good scalps along the way

I can understand the way Frank feels but its a difficult situation for Mitchell. The date was set and he had to try to sort his life out while in the middle of training. I suppose ideally fighters in this class preparing for a massive fight need to shut themselves off from their family and allow nothing to distract them.

surely just start training earlier than he did and work the family in around that. For Katsidis he should have done a 10 week training camp. Didn't he flatten some bloke a couple month back?? i.e. after Prescott fight in December. In hindsight maybe he could have done to have skipped that one.
I saw some footage today of Katsidis shadow boxing and stretching in the gym prior to this fight. He looked in superb shape, not just strong but quick and agile....not too mention chilled as fook. Mitchell was right up against it, he needed to be his best ever, not below it.

Be interesting to see when Mitchell fights next. He should have been in top shape for this fight!

Exactly.

And if they happen to win, its always "I was inspired by recent events..." etc.

100% correct!!!

Tibbs is right to have a pop and Mr W arren who is paying the money has every right to have a go!!!

Think maybe this is just a bit of spin to enable them to keep Mitchell's name up there as a 'world class' rather like Mike Tyson and that cobblers about the meniscus tear.

Could be true of course, but call me a cynic, but it's just another excuse for a loss.

so katsidis spends a couple of months shacked up in a hell hole in tailand, rough digs etc......

mitchell nips home after training to his wife or his mums.....

i think these 2 scenarios explain the result.. !!

Katsidis has a new born baby, a beautiful wife and a supportive family.
He has spent the last 3 months away from them training in Thailand, he's now a world champion.

Maybe you would do it the way the Army does in wartime? If a soldier's wife is causing him grief, get him a divorce!

Rather than the fact that Katsidis has mixed with genuine world class opposition, and is a very tough and talented boxer?

Katsidis had Mitchell in round 3 with some strong punching, and he won with his agressive finish. Nothing else really needs to be added (or taken away) from that result.
