Audley to be British Champ in 2004

Post by Priff »

...and other such guff at ringside on Saturday afternoon (BBC1).
Audley (who was at ringside in person) said he had 2 US fights left on his contract, and would swap between UK and US until those are taken care of.
Then would focus on Southern Area and British titles in 2004.
Refering to himself in the 3rd person singular, he stated very clearly that he would infact be british champ in 2004.
Also mentioned taking out skelton on the way.

I give him all the credit in the world if he does indeed step up to the plate this year.

He's talked the talk so now it's time to walk the walk.

However, although he's improved since his first few fights, the improvement isn't as signiificant as I would have liked to have seen. Nor has he been busy enough.

Audley is shrewd enough to know that a defeat now would reduce his earning power to peanuts. That's what scares him more than Williams, Hide or Skelton in my opinion and why he's been overly cautious with his opponents to date.

If he's serious about getting serious - good luck to him - I for one will be wishing him (and the rest of the British heavyweights) well. Like most of you, I hope, I am a boxing fan first and foremost rather than a fan of any particular boxer.

Evander Holyfield, however, stands apart for me, personally, which is why I never want to see him fight again.

To be honest,

The fact that the next olympic's is coming must have made him realise that his shelf life is running out in terms of his Gold medal!

Can you imagine if an American was to win the 2004 Super Heavyweight gold, It'd be goodbye Audrey!

Basically, if he dosen't have at least the British Title by the next Olympics, he's gonna look pretty stupid!

Although I do quite often stick up for Audley this is a very good point.

Hey Priff - Talking in the 3rd person singular is all part of the psyche, building himself to be more like Lennox every day, now he just needs to learn to fight like him!

Yes, most of the American champions are either exposed or have won/close to winning world titles by the next Olympics.

It has been a very slow process by Audley, he's not even in the top 7 in Britain.

I'm glad you agree Goz

At least he's on record now as saying he'll challenge for the British title next year so he can't worm outta it!

I still think Audrey is more interested in party going and dating models than getting down to hard work and hard fights!

Same thing happened to ricardo williams!
