FURY v McDERMOTT REMATCH IS ON
FURY v McDERMOTT REMATCH IS ON
JOHN McDERMOTT will get the chance of revenge against Tyson Fury next month.
Frank Maloney will promote their rematch when Manchester’s Fury risks his English heavyweight title against the Essex boy at Brentwood Centre on Friday 25th June.
There was outrage among fight fans when Fury (10-0) was gifted a controversial points win over McDermott last September - but now John (25-6) gets his chance of justice.
Maloney is calling the 12 rounder which doubles as a British title final eliminator ‘The Conspiracy Fury’ and the bill features some of the most exciting heavyweights in Britain.
Maloney is staging the brawl for it all after Fury’s promoter Mick Hennessy failed to deliver a date for the fight despite winning the initial purse bids.
Jubilant Maloney who promotes McDermott was so incensed after the first fight he had a ringside heart attack.
He said: “It is only right that I get the opportunity to stage the return after the previous injustice on my show caused John so much hurt.
“John has been begging for this fight ever since that decision went against him and I am delighted that he has got the chance.
“If this fight hadn’t come off I seriously believe that he may have walked away from boxing for good.”
Ref Terry O’Connor’s crazy 98-92 verdict in ‘Fury-McDermott 1’ caused such a storm that the British Boxing Board of Control ruled all future English title fights would be scored by three judges.
Maloney says: “The fight is happening and Fury will have to convince three judges that he is the better man and not just a referee.
“It will be a special night of heavyweight boxing and I am sure the expected sell-out crowd and Sky viewers will get a special treat.”
Among those on the undercard will be Olympic bronze medallist David Price (6-0), Tom Dallas (10-0), Larry Olubamiwo (8-1) and Dave Ferguson (11-2)
Tickets are sure to sell out fast and are available price £40 and £90 from www.frankmaloney.com and 0871 226 1508

If it's the same as the first one the fights won't be limited to inside the ring. If you're going, be aware of that. I'm not going to another fight involving Fury ever again.phil5555 wrote:wrimc wrote:Why are tickets for this now £40 and £90 rather than the usual £35 and £75?

Frank has done his job well!! Completely blown the result out of all proportion and he's got his man a rematch. ;;-)
Full marks to Tyson Fury for taking this one. While Maloney won't risk his 10 fight novices with boxers of the calibre of McDermott over 10 rounds, thank God Hennessy will.
Can't wait for the rematch.

Re: FURY v McDERMOTT REMATCH IS ON
Fury clearly had the cleaner work in the last fight, McDonut just waded in with no thought and the younger more talented man picked him off
I scored the fight 97-93 Fury but this time Fury will do McD in 2
