prizefighter....should we set parameters?

Post by rhino222 »

for instance, the guy that herbie hide fought in the last competition, he could have had his head removed by herbie !!

personally, id like to see prizefighter only contain fighters that have had between 5 and 15 fights. the matches would be quite even, and there would be no total mismatches that would embarrass the BBB of C.

The fact theres under dogs is kind of part of the point to it really imo , and as far as being outclassed , its only 3 rounds which means theres far less chance of somoene being badly hurt , at least thats my view, maybe in your proffession you may know better .

Exactly. There have been some huge upsets in PF and that's a big part of the appeal. Also, with "parameters", we wouldn't have had the amazing sight of McKenzie-Keeton in the final of CW1!

i would like to see all the journeymen like youseff al hamidi or karl taylor etc in a prizefighter and give a true sportsman who served boxing so well the chance of what would be for them a huge payday

I was chatting to someone about this yesterday, my thought was that perhaps the two wildcards should box before Sky go on air - as a warm up for the audience who had to wait until 9 p.m. on Saturday for action. Then we'd see who deserves the right to be first reserve and it would be more of an even playing field if they get the nod. The obvious problem would be if more than one reserve is then needed!

Rhino,
Prizefighter is subject to board rules, like any other fight.
The Board don't have to sanction any fight.
Having sanctioned the contest, if they're embarrassed, that's their problem.

A top class performer who is still relatively active, like Hide, maybe is too much. But the big names pull in the viewers. I'd like to see the likes of Holyfield, Bowe & Tyson lining up in a prizefighter against a few good prospects. The short fight distances would mean they aren't in too much danger and they all need the money! If they had a chance to get themselves fit I reckon they'd be well up for it.

This is a possibility that I have not considered before... I remember reading that Tyson was fighting exhibitions...
Maybe a Prizefighter Tournament would be right up his ally?

But he would have to get fit enough to fight 9 rounds at a quick pace...

Thats aid, if he still has his punching power, few men will last that long against him. :TU:

the journeyman scenario intrigues m e, but, first of all half of them should actually start trying in their fights...to warrant being offered the opportunity of a decent purse !!

i recon they would try more if they knew they didnt have a fight 3 days later or had more than 2 hours notice. i recon if they had to take a 4 week trainning camp before hand they would turn up to fight

in all fairness i see no prob with them having a chance at a nice purse , they put their bodies on the line week in week out for our prospects to develop .
