This would be a great fight. I think Jack gets hurt in the first but survives and in the end his superior infighting ability and body punching see him winning by a TKO around the 7th round.
Re: Demsey vs Tyson
Fair assement and I've seen it that was also. But i see it another way where Tyson gets him out in 3/5 rounds. IMO I think ur view comes tru 3 outta 10dempseyfire wrote:This would be a great fight. Re: Demsey vs Tyson
Considering Jack was only stopped once (under questionable circumstances) in over 70 pro fights, I think he deserves a little of the benefit of the doubt that he could survive past 3 rounds of Mike Tyson more often than not.

But he never fought any1 like Tyson. Same as Tyson never fought any1 like Dempsey.dempseyfire wrote:Considering Jack was only stopped once (under questionable circumstances) in over 70 pro fights, I think he deserves a little of the benefit of the doubt that he could survive past 3 rounds of Mike Tyson more often than not.
Now understand here that ima Dempsey fan. But this is how I see it. In fact wen I sed JD wins 3/10 really I see it as 35/100.

I'm every bit as interested in how such a graphic, traditional headcase as Tyson reacts & reconciles to fighting his idol as I am in the physical clash. That's not hyperbole --- I mean that literally.
My guess, incidentally, is he might not. Dempsey TKO5, with both hitting the deck. Fast, furious, & decisive, with the loser getting momentarily concussed.

Man, I would love to see these two boxers faces after this all out war.
Both ending up with broken noses, broken jaws, and probably pissing pure blood.
Dempsey TKO7. Scorecards have it 4-2 in Dempsey's favor.

Re: Demsey vs Tyson
Something tells me that prime for prime it would be Dempsey, considering he faired much better against taller men than Tyson did, and generally better against tacticians than Tyson. We see Dempsey today as a brawler and nothing more today, but I think Jack had a stronger constitution than Tyson, he was never knocked out [unless you count the Jim Flynn 'dive'] even at the end of his career.

Tyson by KO in four or five rounds. Bigger, stronger, faster, just as tough. Bad news for Dempsey.

Re: Demsey vs Tyson
Why is that people go on as after x-amount of rounds, i.e 3/4 rounds, prime Tyson was only half as effective?

Because he always slowed down and if it got to the late rounds Mike was more than content to hold on the inside.
