Green is the king of PPV here in Australia

Post by Hounddawg »

It appears that Green outsells Mundine quite comfortably in pubs and bars.

In Sydney alone Green can be seen in 103 bars while the hometown boy Mundine can only muster 86 bars.
In other states like WA its a landslide victory to Green, and every other state have more venues for Green.

Congrats to the PPV king Greeny.

ON a side note, whoever keeps saying MMA is a threat haven't a clue, in every other city besides Sydney you can only see a MMA fight at 1 venue in each major city.

Anyone got any idea on PPV buys independantly?

I dislike mundine but he is the PPV King of Aus. Pubs are off him but household PPV sales he is the highest generator in Aus.

I think every fight of his Professional career has been PPV.

MMA is getting huge but I don't think it is becoming a threat. They can co-exist.

No.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply I was stating Fact. I meant that I believe, based on my assumption that all of his fight's have been PPV and his fight with Green was the highest selling PPV, that he would hold the record for most PPV sales. Both in one fight (with Green) and in total over the 33 PPV's he has had. People who love him watch him and people who hate him watch him to hopefully see him get knocked out. I personally don't pay for his PPV's anymore but all of my mates from Footy still do, but they are not as into boxing as me, more just know about mundine.

The reason Green can be seen in bars is that he wont charge them the outragous fee that mundine does. I know this from previously working in hotels and knowing what a crazy mark up Mundine's fight were sold to pubs at. They all just got sick of him and pulled out.

ah, fair enough mate. I was just hoping we could get an insight to the actual numbers. Getting the numbers out of Main Event is like getting blood from a stone.

I think pre-mundine/green that mundine would have wiped green for viewers. I remember one night the pub was so full that people were standing in the street and watching through the window. I didnt know about the marking up in prices for public venues to broadcast mundine's events, thinking about it though it really doesnt surprise me.

In recent times i think that the public has wised up a bit, Green Machine Promotions have done a much better job at providing consistantly better cards and promoting themselves plus Australian boxing. Mundine's cards (back when i watched them anyway) were very one sided affairs from the first bout to the last, its a big part of why i refuse to watch to watch any of his cards. His last successful gimmick in using SBW to attract viewers doesnt seem to be working this time, i've heard next to nothing in the press about mundines upcoming event.

you wouldnt, ofcourse its a sham which is why he resorts to cheap gimmicks like Webb or Williams. Keep an ear out for him trying to set up an Andrew Johns/Timana Tahu bout :o

On another note, there was talk a few months back about Green/Darch wanting to co-headline an event in Sydney, i've still got my fingers crossed that this hasnt been completely shelved.

Also in recent times there have been a good handfull of venues in Sydney that broadcast mma events.

Green would charge as much as Mundine in pubs, and personally i believe those who hate Mundine and watch to see him lose don't fork out cash in there households, IMO Green is the PPV king here, and for his efforts of bringing quality cards to Australia he's been rewarded.

I don't know anyone who pays for Mundine cards anymore, I've put on a few of his cards at home and tried to invite mates around, it's a tough sell, when i stick on Green or Pacman mates come around with folding chairs because theres not enough space on the couch  .

It's just my opinion tho, no hard facts in household buys.

Admittedly it's been a while but the last time I was involved Mundine charged at least double that of any other PPV in Aussie pubs and clubs...

I was working in hotel management not so long ago and have a lot of good friends that are hotel managers and I can tell you that Green does not charge the same as Choc for PPV. choc charges more than doubly what aussie pubs paid for dlh v pbf.

Alot of pubs boycotted mundines fights because of this very reason.
